The members of Calyx Trio are Catherine French, violin, Jennifer Lucht, cello and Nina Ferrigno, piano. Join them at the Newton Free Library for a concert on Thursday, April 21 at 7:00 pm. The program will include Bright Sheng’s Four Movements for Piano Trio and Ravel’s Trio for Violin, Cello and Piano. Canadian violinist Catherine French has been a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra since 1994. Ms. French garnered the grand prize at the Canadian Music Competition, the C.B.C. Radio Competition and the National Competitive Festival of Music, Canada’s three major music competitions. She has performed as soloist with many leading Canadian orchestras and given recitals throughout North America and Argentina. Ms. French was featured with the Juilliard Orchestra and James de Preist, the Boston Pops and John Williams and at Carnegie Hall in her debut with David Gilbert. Jennifer Lucht, cello, has been heard in performances at notable concert halls including the Kennedy Center, Weill Recital Hall, Tanglewood and on National Public Radio's live broadcast Performance Today. She also performs with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra in concerts throughout the U. S., Canada and Japan. Ms. Lucht received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees with a Performer's Certificate at Indiana University and continued her education with post-graduate studies at the New England Conservatory of Music. Nina Ferrigno, a founding member of Calyx Trio, has appeared in major concert venues throughout North America and has performed with such ensembles as the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Her festival appearances include Tanglewood, Banff, Norfolk and others. Ms. Ferrigno received Bachelor and Master of Music degrees with distinction from the New England Conservatory of Music.
