Can include dressing up as a Benedictine monk and explore the monastic tradition of the site. (£2.50) KS3/4 without dress up option. E,H 2) Cathedral TourReligious 1 to 1.5 hours on the religious significance and key features of the Cathedral past and present. Pupils can consider pilgrimage by seeing the St Werburgh story told with puppets. (£2.50) FS/KS1 Puppets suitable E , H , RE These hour long sessions can be added onto either tour or be extended to stand alone visits. Main Curriculum Areas Covered by Session 1) Remembrance Signs and Symbols Workshop (November 7th - 18th 2011) 1.5 hour workshop (£2.00) Why and how do we remember? Contemplate religious signs and symbols, and create your own. Combine with a tour of the Cathedral or visit Chester Military Museum. KS2 H , RE , PHSCE 2) Advent Adventure (28th November to 9th December 2011) Journey through a series of creative and fun workshop explore the often difficult to explain season of Advent. Classes will produce an Advent wall hanging to take back to school. The day will close with a short act of workshop (£4.50). All age groups AD , RE , PHSCE This can be brought to KS3/ KS4 sites. 3) Pilgrim Days (October 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th 2011) A day for Year 5’s to take part in traditional Cathedral crafts, music, and art activities, as well as exploring Pilgrimage in Medieval and the present day. The day closes with a service (£5.00) Year 5’s E , H ,AD , RE , PHSCE 4) Lent Workshops Focused on the wilderness story and asking what was ‘Jesus getting ready for?’ This multi-workshop day will also look at the traditions around Lent, including Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday and Mothering Sunday (£4.50) FS/ KS1/ KS2 E , H , RE 5) Easter Explored (26th – 30th March 2012) Visit areas of the Cathedral and delve into the Easter Story. Along the way meet Characters and take part in writing, acting and art activities. The day will conclude with a short act of worship (£4.50). FS/ KS1/ KS2 E , Music, AD, RE , PHSCE 6) Tudor Days (12th – 23rd March and 21st -25th May 2012) In conjunction with the Grosvenor KS1/ KS2 Museum take part in Tudor writing, crafts and handle Tudor Objects. Tour Chester and find traits of Tudor buildings before becoming a court writer in Chester Cathedral’s Consistory Court. For costs and booking contact The Grosvenor Museum.
