IUTOX Scientific Commission Plan (2004- 2007)

General Objectives:
1. IUTOX Scientific Commission ( SC) will follow up new scientific developments and
incorporate these where necessary and feasable in the overall scientific strategy and
incorporate them in the Global Strategy of Sciences ( ICSU)
2. IUTOX SC will particularly focus on the scientific developments in developing
countries and stimulate these countries to participate in forthcoming scientific
meetings at National, Regional and Global levels.
Specific Objectives for 2004-2007:
1. IUTOX SC will actively participate in the development of the scientific programme of
CTDC 6/ Eurotox 2006 and stimulate the participation of developing countries in this
meeting
2. IUTOX SC will promote IUTOX scientifically as much as possible, in particular by
participating in ICSU activities and developing a global science strategy
3. IUTOX SC will actively participate in the development of the scientific programme of
ICT XI, in close collaboration with the Society of Toxicology of Canada The SC will
also assure that the Clinical Toxicology Societies will be involved in the process
4. IUTOX SC will foster new scientific initiatives in particular those coming from
developing countries
General Tasks
1. IUTOX SC will communicate its scientific strategy to its members
2. IUTOX SC will seek to develop scientific activities in particular in the developing
countries
3. IUTOX SC will furhter promote and communicate its scientific strategy in the scientific
community

To partipate and assist in the 28th General Assembly of the International Council for
Science ( ICSU) to be held in Shang Hai and Suzlon, China from 16-22 October
2005.
To participate in the Scientific Programme Committee of CTDC / Eurotox 2006
To participate in the Scientific Programme Committee of ICT XI
To stimulate specific scientific devlopments at a global scale as well as to further
those in developing countries
Activities:
1. Participate in EC meetins
2. Participate in relevant ICSU meetings and activities
3. Participate in Scientific Programme Committees of CTDC / Eurotox 2006 and of ICT
XI
4. Communicate its activities to its members in a selective way.
Timeline:
1. Yearly evaluations concerning its activities
2. Participation in the Scientific Programme activities according to the timeline for those
activities
