Call for intent to apply for TWAS Fellowships
The Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) will be facilitating applications by South
African scholars for postgraduate training and post-doctoral fellowships advertised in
Brazil, China, India, Mexico, Pakistan and Malaysia. Each year, the TWAS Fellowship
Programmes, which operate under agreements with governments and national
organisations in developing countries, offer a number of fellowships to young scientists
from developing countries to carry out postgraduate research in developing countries other
than their own.
In November 2011, ASSAf discussed with the Brazil Academy of Sciences, the Chinese
Academy of Sciences and the TWAS Secretariat to accommodate, in principle, a minimum
of 10 scholars from South Africa, although the applications still have to go through the
existing screening process. In order to facilitate the intake with the host institutions, ASSAf
would like to ascertain the interest of South African scholars in these fellowships. It is
against this background that ASSAf is issuing a call for intent to apply for TWAS
Fellowships.
If you are interested in applying for a TWAS Fellowship please find below the
application form and return the completed form to charmaine@assaf.org.za by 15
May 2012.
