Aytasheva and Saniya Dauletbayeva, Saturday, February 23, 2013 February, 20 2013: Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics has held a faculty-wide contest of students projects to name the winners of special fellowships named after academicians of the Kazakh National Academy and Department’s teachers, Professor Nadezhda L. Udol’skaya and Professor Gakash Z. Biyashev. One more fellowship in molecular biology named after Academician Murat A. Ajtkhozhin will be granted (without contest) to Zhiger Akishev, 1-year graduate student continuing his plant molecular phylogenetics research under supervision of Professor Amangeldy Bissenbayev. Aim of the contest was to support intellectual and creative potentials of the students and encpouragement of best out of them. Participants, B.Sc. students of the 2-nd and the 3-rd years of education have been rivaling in two nominations: i, Prospects in modern genetics and plant breeding (Udolskaya’s fellowship); ii, Plant breeding and ecological genetics (Biyashev’s fellowship). Stirring and evaluation committee has determined the winners of the contest: Ms. Saltanat Beketemissova (3-rd year in Biology, Udolskaya’s fellowship), and Mr. Bakdaulet Qappar + Quanysh Zhappar (3-rd year in Biotechnology, Biyashev’s fellowship). Each fellowship is of 50, 000.00 tenge (~ $334.00). Congratulations to the winners! Another new fellowship granted by the department staff this year is the Impulse-Dance Fellowship to one of our students attending the university dance contest in the spring, 2013. In addition, the department is planning to grant four more fellowships until the end of academic year (Uspanov’s and Fursov’s fellowships; fellowships of the Kazakhstan Alexander von Humboldt Club and alumni Fullbright Association of Kazakhstan) for students reports to the International Conference on World of Science to be held as usual in April, 2013.
