Good points: -Gets students to practice writing about collection - Give essential guidelines to write with direction 2. Shortcoming: - It’s difficult because there is no model, clear steps to instruct students’ writing. - It’s non-interactive because students do individually all their writing while it is necessary for Ss to exchange ideas.. II. Adaptation 1. Aims: - To get students work in interaction - To guide students go through necessary steps to be easier in writing the paragraph of collection 2 Technique : Change 3. Procedure: Task 1: - Gives reading paragraph of Mary’s collection about kinds of postcards for the group of advanced students. When Mary was young, she was really interested in seeing postcards, which all members of her family usually received on holidays. They were so beautiful with varied kinds of forms, colors…Therefore; collecting postcard has become Mary unchanged hobby till now. Her family knew my interest, so they sometimes they want to make her get happiness by help her in collecting postcards. They give all postcards to Mary when they get them. Also, Mary really likes to buy some special ones in bookstores with many new and beautiful kinds. Mary’s friends also give many postcards to her on holidays such as birthday, Christmas, Women’s day… Gradually, she gets lots of postcards and sees them over in a big cell of the bookshelf. In pleasure time, Mary enjoys classifying the postcards alone in her room. Excitingly, she puts the same kinds of postcards in separated albums and names them. Presently, Mary has 4 albums of postcards; they are love postcard, landscape postcards, Christmas postcards, birthday postcards. Mary’s mother asked her why she collected postcards; Mary just smiled and told that: “I love the postcards because they take happiness to every body”. Mary loves to collect all kinds of postcards all over the world till she can not. - Gives another sample paragraph for the group of the rest of the class: Mary’s interest is collecting postcards. There are many ways she collects postcards. Mary always collects them for their relatives and friends. Sometimes, she buys them from bookstores if she like. Mary classifies them into separated albums for each theme such as love, Christmas, New Year… and put them in a corner of her bookshelf. She started collecting postcards when she received a lovely postcard from her close friend 5 years ago. From that until now, collecting postcards has become her interest because them keep her cheer up and remember the friend. Mary will collect more postcards to send them to people around her. - Gets students to work in pairs, read the passages carefully and then answer the questions below: 1. What will Mary do? - Checks the answers from students. - Underlines the answers from the passage in order that students can identify them clearly. Task 2: - Gets students to work in groups of 4 - Asks them to share and discuss about their collection - Goes around and monitors, sometimes participates. - Gets some groups to show their discussion. - Gives feedback.
