Bobby Jones, DVM, MPH, Public Health Consultant noon – 1 p.m. Lunch About the Speakers: Bobby Jones, DVM, MPH-Public Health Consultant Dr. Bobby Jones is the former strategic science epidemiologist in the Community Preparedness Section of the Division of Prevention and Preparedness for the Texas Department of State Health Services. Prior to this appointment, he was manager of Epidemiology and Health Information for Tarrant County Public Health in Fort Worth. His lectures will cover the following objectives: Equips all healthcare providers with knowledge related to public health emergency preparedness, including biological and chemical hazards. Topics include: recognition of a public health emergency, decontamination procedures, utilization of personal protective equipment, activation of the public health system and the roles and responsibilities of the public health/health care worker during a public health emergency. Dr. Robert Howard, Harvard School of Public Health and Robert J. Howard and Associates Dr. Robert Howard served as Director of Strategic Communications at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) where he developed, directed and managed the advanced media training for CDC physicians. He currently teaches at Harvard’s School of Public Health and is President and CEO or Robert J. Howard and Associates. His lecture will cover the following objectives: Manage information in a crisis situation and in day-to-day interactions with our populations in east Texas. Manage information both internally and externally. Understand the needs of the media and how best to deliver critical information to them. Physician Credit Designation: UNT Health Science Center anticipates this program being approved for 3 hours of AOA Category 2A CME credit hours pending approval by the AOA CCME. The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth designates this educational activity for a maximum of 3 category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award.
