THE PLURAL OF NOUNS A. Regular plural 1. nouns + -S : books 2. nouns ending in : x, s, ss, ch, sh, zz, z add –ES : bus – buses; box – boxes 3. nouns ending in -Y make the plural in –YS after a vowel and in –IES after a consonant e.g. boy – boys; lady – ladies 4.
