Reading:
Begin to independently use strategies for reading such as, one-to-one correspondence, picture cues, initial sounds, rhyme and
reading for meaning.
Complete a range of sequencing activities, cloze procedure activities and comprehension.
Using shared and guided reading chn will begin to use expression and intonation.
Writing:
 Further develop recount writing skills using writing frames, own experiences, comprehension, close, word and character
studies.
 Write an alternative start / ending to familiar stories.
 Consistently use “have-a- go” spelling technique and wordbook during independent writing activities.
 Write sentences using capital letters and full stops appropriately.
 Take part in group shared writing exercises.
 Continue to revise the correct formation of letters.
Talking and Listening:
Chn will take part in circle time discussion for class meetings/school council meetings. Discussions will also take place aroung the
Living Together scheme.
ICT: children will use “2 create a super story” to sequence the process of making bread.
Phonics:
Stage 3
Hear and see blocks of sounds in words. Segment blocks of sounds. Blend blocks of sounds.
Stage 4
Segment, blend and manipulate phonemes. Identify sounds made by more than one letter.
