Corporate Sponsorship Proposal For Participants
Dear Participant,
We have developed a proposal for you to use to approach companies to sponsor you in your Team
In Training event. There are certain recognition benefits that Team In Training offers companies
that support your fundraising efforts.
The enclosed Corporate Sponsorship Proposal can be copied and presented to multiple companies
where you might know friends or colleagues. Consider which companies might be interested in
gaining visibility with the demographic audience of the Team In Training program.
Team In Training attracts a wide audience by offering personalized running, walking, cycling
and triathlon programs. TNT participants are interested in reaching personal fitness goals with
the guidance of a trainer and the support of a team, while having the capacity and desire to
raise significant funds for patients and survivors of blood cancers.
Please contact your Campaign Manager for assistance if you have questions
regarding ways to use this proposal. Please do not change this proposal in any
way.
If you have a company that has agreed to sponsor you, please contact Sara
Hernandez at 310-846-4719 immediately to make certain that we can meet the
deadlines to fulfill the appropriate sponsor benefits.
We hope that this assists you with your fundraising efforts. Please feel free to give us
feedback on how this proposal worked for you and how we can improve it in the future.
Good luck with your training program and fundraising efforts. Your support of the Leukemia &
Lymphoma Society is saving lives, one mile at a time. Go Team!
Our sincere appreciation,
All of the Staff at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
Corporate Sponsorship Proposal
Summer 2007
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a national voluntary health organization dedicated to
curing Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and Myeloma, and improving the quality of life
of patients and their families. Our goals are to significantly accelerate cures for leukemia,
Hodgkin & non-Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma and be the recognized leader in the fight
against all blood cancers.
The Society funds: research, direct patient services (including financial assistance, emotional
support programs), patient and professional education, and advocacy efforts. Since it’s founding
in 1949, the Society has awarded over $358 million in research. Now at nearly $38 million
annually, our grant program is one of the most prestigious in the fields of hematology and
oncology.
Greater Los Angeles Chapter
The Greater Los Angeles Chapter serves more than 11 million residents in Los Angeles, Ventura,
San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. Informative educational materials are provided to
individuals and health care professionals at hospitals, agencies and libraries. We provide direct
financial aid for outpatient expenses to patients with blood cancers. We offer patient and family
support groups led by experienced oncology health care professionals; one-on-one peer counseling
for newly diagnosed patients, and a variety of educational programs. All services are provided free
of charge.
About Blood Cancers
Leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and Myeloma are cancers that originate in the
bone marrow and lymphatic tissues. All blood cancers have two things in common: cells become
abnormal because of altered DNA and then they accumulate in excessive amounts. Some of the
facts are startling. Leukemia is the largest disease killer of children between the ages of 1 and 15.
However, leukemia strikes even more adults than children---most often people over 60, and men
more than women. Lymphoma strikes more children between the ages of 15 and 19 than any
other cancer, but it also affects more adults than children. From the early 1970’s through the
1990’s, incidence rates for lymphoma in the U.S. nearly doubled. The cause of blood-related
cancers remains largely unknown. However, recent research has dramatically improved our
understanding of these cancers and is bringing us closer to a cure.
This is why we need your help. By joining us as a Team In Training Corporate Sponsor,
your company will have a direct impact on the success of a major fundraising event,
bringing the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society one step closer to a cure, and at the same
time providing your company with important community visibility.
Team In Training
Team In Training is a comprehensive endurance training program for runners, walkers, cyclists
and triathletes that benefits The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The goal of Team In
Training is to increase funding to support the Society’s mission while promoting fitness and
healthy lifestyles for all the participants who take part in the program.
This year Team In Training will train an estimated 30,000 runners, walkers, cyclists and
triathletes to participate in a marathon, century ride or triathlon. During its 14-year history,
the Team In Training program has experienced tremendous growth, raising over $30,000 in
1986 to over $660 million as of our fiscal year 2005/2006. The Greater Los Angeles
Chapter has been an integral part of this success. In the coming year we anticipate over 2,600
runners, walkers, cyclists and triathletes will participate in one of the twelve Los Angeles,
Ventura, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara County teams. These participants are projected
to raise over $7 million dollars.
Team In Training offers runners, walkers, cyclists and triathletes of all fitness abilities a four to
five month comprehensive training program under the guidance of experienced coaches. In
return for professional training with a team and accommodations during the event, participants
raise valuable funds in the fight against leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and
Myeloma. Each member of our team is participating in honor of a patient from our community
who is battling a blood cancer. Completing a marathon, century ride or triathlon is a
celebration of human spirit, physical ability and mental endurance. For members of Team In
Training, it is also a celebration of life.
Promotional Value
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a highly respected national health organization, home to
Team In Training, the world’s largest endurance training. Your monetary support of the
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Team In Training will enhance your company’s image in
the community and highlight your company’s support of a worthwhile cause. In return, the
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society can offer your company tremendous visibility within the Team
In Training program.

Promoting Team In Training To Your Employees and Members
In addition to your sponsorship, we would appreciate the promotion of Team In Training to
your company employees, encouraging their involvement in the Team In Training program.
Several opportunities are available:
 Invite the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society staff to visit your company and present
information about Team In Training
 Display Point of Purchase stands throughout your offices
 Include TNT information in company newsletters and/or e-mail
 Distribute promotional letters and/or flyers to all employees
Participation in Team In Training teaches individuals the endless rewards of setting personal
goals and working together with a team to achieve these goals. Members of Team In
Training work together over a four to five month training program with the support of
professional coaches and dedicated past participants. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
staff members realize the intense satisfaction and exhilaration that comes from completing a
26.2-mile marathon, a 13.1-mile half-marathon, a 100-mile century ride or an Olympic
Distance Triathlon (.93-mile swim, 24.8-mile cycle, 6.2-mile run) and work hard to support
each and every individual.
More importantly, they are joining in the fight against all blood-related cancers. Participants
are guided and supported to reach significant fundraising goals. With the inspiration of their
honorees and the support of their fundraising mentors, participants traditionally set and
achieve higher fundraising goals than they ever imagined possible.
These lessons of endurance, commitment, teamwork, confidence and accomplishment will
become strengths for Team In Training members in all areas of their life. The benefits that
Team In Training will bring to your employees are not as easily defined as the above
promotional opportunities, but worth so much more.
