Can I go to the palace for the ball with you, please?

You, Cinderella? You all covered with dust and dirt, and you want to go to the palace? You
can’t dance. We would be ashamed of you. Never!
Stepsister 1:
Do I look right, mother?
Stepmother:
You look very beautiful in this dress. The prince will fall in love with you, my sweetheart.
Stepsister 2:

Cinderella:
They left for the ball. I have to sit here sorting lentils and peas until midnight. If only my
mother knew it. I miss my mother. I wish I could go to the king’s ball.
Who is it?
Fairly:
It’s me, your godmother. Why are you crying? Would you like to go dancing at the ball,
Cinderella?
Cinderella:
How could I go in the dirty clothes? I’m dressed in rags. I have to pick peas and lentils out of
the ash.
Fairly:
Don’t worry Cinderella. You will be able to go to the ball. But you must come back before
midnight.
Shake and quiver, little tree
Throw gold and silver down to me.
Cinderella:
What a beautiful silk dress! Brilliant! And a pear necklace. Oh, thank you. I’m so happy. I
will be dancing at the palace.
Fairly:
Have a good time. But remember! You must be back before midnight.
Cinderella:

It will be my foot that fits the shoe. ( trying it on )

The shoe is too tight
The shoe is not right
Stepsister 2:
Maybe mine ( trying on )

Herald:
No, it will not fit you. Your feet are too large. ( after a while )
Is there any other young woman in the house?
Cinderella:

Prince:
She has a right to try the shoe. Try it on. ( Cinderella’s putting the shoe on )
The shoe fits perfectly.
Prince:
You are my dance partner. You are my true bride. You will be my wife.

Oh, dear! You are the beautiful lady we saw at the ball. Forgive us all the ill treatment.
Cinderella:
I forgive you with all my heart and I want you to always love me. ( taking them by hands ).
Prince:
