Roswitha Lohmer - Short Biography The pianist was born at Leverkusen, and the foundation of her studies of music was laid by the piano pedagogue Pauline Raphael in Cologne. One of the artist's first public appearances dates back to her 17th year when she played the solo part in Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1. After Roswitha Lohmer had passed the A-level examination she took up her studies at the conservatories of Munich, Hamburg and Cologne. With a scholarship granted by the German Academic Exchange Service she took courses in Italy, Switzerland and Portugal among others with the maestros G. Agosti, M. Horszowski. R. Firkusny and in particular, by her contact with the Czech pianist and composer Josef Pálenícek. Roswitha Lohmer´s engagements as piano soloist reach far beyond the German borders, including countries such as Bahrain, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Eritrea, Estonia, Grenada, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kirgisistan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Nepal, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Paraguay, Peru, People's Republic of China, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovenia, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Trinidad, Ukraine, Usbekistan, the United Arabic Emirates and the U.S.A.. The artist went on a concert tour through Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia with the Thuringia Philharmonic Orchestra. She had given solo performances in the Baltic States several times. She was also on four solo tours in China, with piano recitals in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin and Hanzhou. Subsequently, the artist was invited to give concerts together with the Chinese Central Philharmonic Orchestra in Beijing. Apart from other orchestras, Roswitha Lohmer performed as soloist with the Romanian National Philharmonic Orchestra in Bucharest, the Orquestra do Norte in Portugal, the Zaporozhye Symphony Orchestra, the State Orchestra St. Petersburg, the Latvian Chamber Orchestra in Riga, the Thessaloniki State Orchestra, Orkiestra Filharmonii Wroclawskiej and the Taiwan Symphony Orchestra. She has recorded several CDs such as Rachmaninow´s Piano Concerto No. 2 together with the Thuringia Philharmonic Orchestra, Beethoven´s Piano Concertos # 4 and # 5 with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Emil Tabakov and Brahms´ - Piano Concerto # 2 with the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra also under the baton of Emil Tabakov. A few months ago she has recorded Mozart´s Piano Concerto D minor K.V. 466 and Piano Concerto E flat major K.V 271 with the Chamber Orchestra Orpheus in Sofia.
