Additional research for publication involving investigation of nontraditional imaging positions for the peer reviewed journal entitled “Radiologic Technology,” (see publications).

Ongoing Research, 05/05/2005 to present

Expanding design processes for capturing audio and video for in-class use of x-ray images and other media for the upper and lower extremities. During this process developed proficiency in the use of Automenu Studio 6 software for the expansion of DVD quality images used for instructional technology.

Adjunct Faculty: 4633. Teaching Continuous Quality Improvement in Diagnostic

Imaging 3 credits. This course is a study of the principles and methodologies of quality improvement. Comparisons with traditional quality assurance are included as well as implementation standards to satisfy The Joint Commission (TJC). Students perform mind-set, departmental, and system evaluation, and use problem-solving techniques and tools to generate solutions to quality issues.

HONORS

April 2005, received the Jean Machacek Memorial Award . This award is named after

Jean Machacek who was an exemplary technologist in the state of Idaho. The award has been given 25 times since 1966 when it was first awarded. It is given at the State Society annual meeting and is not awarded every year. The trophy is given to honor exemplary individuals in the profession of Radiological Technology in the State of Idaho. The secure portion of the site requires password authentication. Once inside the site faculty and clinical staff may review clinical competencies and continued competencies of students. Radiographic Science Sources, 09/03-present

During the fall semester of 2003 developed a Web site specific to the Radiographic Science department and links from my home page. On this site the student may download the program guide, student handbook, and a brochure applicable to the program. In addition,

PAST WORK HISTORY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Columbia Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center Aug.1981-Dec.1998

Title: Assistant Director of Medical Imaging

EIRMC is a 320-bed facility with a Medical Imaging Department that performs approximately 60,000 procedures per year. It is a level II Trauma Center. The following is a summary of achievements and job responsibilities accomplished while working for EIRMC.

Administrative: Provided administrative direction and leadership for 64 employees with duties including, but not limited to: hiring, training, educating, scheduling, directing, supervising, disciplinary, and job performance related activities. Directly responsible for managing all Imaging Modalities which include: Diagnostic Radiology, Special Procedures, CAT Scan, Nuclear Medicine,

Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound, and Mammography. Under the supervision of the Department Director, administrated a free Standing Women’s

Center at 1675 John Adams Parkway, specializing in Mammography, Ultrasound, and Stereotactic biopsy.

Joint Commission on Accrediting Healthcare Organizations: Responsible for departmental compliance with the JCAHO requirements. Duties included but were not limited to, (a) annual review of policies and procedures, (b) QA activities, (c) compliance with rules and regulations as defined by the governing agency. In 1998 participated in a JCAHO survey; the hospital was granted accreditation with no Type 1 violations.

Imaging Services’. This site was the winner of the 1997 Columbia Diamond

Award.

PC: Responsible for implementing and maintaining computer graphs that contain financial, statistical, and trend data. In 1997 developed a computer evaluation program for annual employee appraisal. In the year 2000 this program was used hospital wide at EIRMC. It combines a spreadsheet with word processing that automatically calculates ratings and points as entered by supervisors/employees.

RIS System: Directly responsible for the implementation, training, and maintenance of all Meditech computer systems for the Radiology Department.

Serves on the hospital CORE team for this project. The RIS system communicates with several modules including order entry, the physician care component (PCI), data processing, admissions, scheduling, email (MOX), billing, health information management, and other components.

Mammography: Contiguously responsible for management of the mammography tracking system and patient result letter deployment as governed by MQSA and the FDA guidelines for mammography facilities.

Inventory Management: Responsible for inventory control, ordering, stocking, and organizing supplies for a department with a multi-million-dollar budget.

Westinghouse, Idaho National Engineering Lab 1979-1981

Title: Radiological Control Technologist

Duties comprised monitoring environmental Radiological Controlled areas for contamination and radiation at the Expended Core Facility. Also provided Radiological Control in the Navy Nuclear Training Program at

S1W, A1W and S5G (Nuclear Submarine Prototypes). Qualified to the

Navy equivalent of an ELT, (108 standard). Directly responsible for monitoring radiation, contamination, and airborne particulate levels in and out of the reactor compartment. Accountable to assure work documentation followed, and to guide Radiation Workers in adhering to correct procedures. Specific training in the loading and unloading of spent fuel from the water pits in M130 containers. Monitored extremely high radiation levels during procedures involving casks. Responsible for the safety of Radiation Workers while working in forced air bubble hoods.
