Together with the Mexican authorities and French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Aquassistance has agreed to send and set up two drinking water units that produce up to 6,000 liters per hour in the Tabasco State. A team of Aquassistance and BAL-ONDEO volunteers has also travelled to the affected area to supervise the installation of these drinking water units. AQUASSISTANCE is a humanitarian association composed of SUEZ Group volunteer staff who assist people in difficulty. It intervenes in the areas of water, the environment and waste, and makes equipment and its members’ know-how available to stricken populations. The association has around 600 members and organizes some 60 missions a year, mobilizing 100 volunteers. Aquassistance has already taken action in the following countries: Senegal, Mauritania, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Iran, Haiti, Armenia, Afghanistan, India, Vietnam and Romania. Aquassistance also took action in December 2004 to help victims of the South-East Asian tsunami. BAL-ONDEO is a joint venture between Peñoles and SUEZ Environment and is a strategic ally of the public sector in the management of drinking water and wastewater treatment.
