1. Summary
1. WOS-3000 CATV Optical Fiber Communication System Platform is a multi-functional
modularized Communication Platform which is developed to meet high-density requirements of
CATV MAN Handend Room Equipment.
2. WOS-3000 CATV Optical Fiber Communication System Platform designed two Power Supply
Modules and ten Function Modules in the room at the level of 19 3u, provide an intelligence
Centralized – Monitor Unit also. It is easy to install and agile to configure; powerful, intelligence
Centralized – Monitor Unit will monitor real-time operating parameters of each module, and will
give an alarm when the machine broke down; The two-hot backup power structure improve the
reliability of the system effectually with the Intelligent Temperature Control System controlled by
microcomputer.
3. There are GB Grade II Transponders which will realize centralized monitoring network based
on Ethernet in the WOS-3000 CATV Optical Fiber Communication System. There are also
RS-232 Communication Interface that is the best choice to build up the high-performance
two-way HFC Broadband Network.
4. Configurations: single or dual power supply back unit, 10-way optical transmission unit or
40-way opposite receiver unit that is full allocation, Forward Light Receiver or two-way optical
signal switch automatically, EDFA, optical switch, RF switch.
I.1550nm EDFA Module
1. Summary
 Adopt world famous brand low-noise pump laser. It has work width frequently and steady
output optical power.
 Adopt import high performance Erbium doped fiber. It has high efficiency on energy
transferring and low-noise.
 Completely SMT structure, small size, low consumption and high reliability.


II. 1550nm Forward Optical Transmitter Module
1. Summary
 Develop and design specifically for overlay system, is mainly used in VOD system based on
IPQAM technical scheme.
 Use 1550nm Directly Modulated Lasers only used in Dense Wavelength Division
Multiplexing (DWDM) system, output optical wavelength is as long as standard ITU
wavelength.
 The section of RF driver uses Digital Automatic Processing of RF power developed
independently by us. It will adjust the RF drive power automatically according to the level
and number (15 ~ 84 channels) of input RF signal, to make sure C / CSO, C / CTB and
C / N Index always at their best. So the performance can be ensured, and Optical receiver
output level of optical receiver can be steady.
 Advanced multi-frequency RF Predistortion with GaAs devices, improve the C / CTB and C /
CSO
Index the most important part of CATV efficiently, extremely improve the C/N and
MER Index at the same time.
 Built-in perfect microcomputer automatic control circuit, monitor a variety of working
conditions of output power and laser in real time, to make sure the optical output power is
steady and extend the working life of the laser.

1. Summary
 Optic-Electric convertion part of Forward Optical Receiver Module is high sensitive PIN
detector. RF Pre-amplifier is All GaAs MMIC circuit. And output part is GaAs redoubled
power amplifier module.
 All use SMT production process, and the professional RF electrical muffler with good RF
muffler linear, equalization linear and high precision. Add advanced optical AGC control
circuit. When input optical power turn from -5 to +2dBm, the output level and C / CTB, C /
CSO index constant.

The performance parameters of this manual according to GY/T 143-2000 (Specifications and
methods of measurement on AM optical transmitter and receiver used in CATV system) .We get it
under the following testing environment.
★Testing Environment:
Together with 10km standard optical fiber, optical passive attenuator and standard optical
transmitter make the testing circuit .Set with 59 PAL-D analog TV channel signal at range of
550MHZ in the fix index loss of circuit, transmit digital TV signal at rang of
550MHZ~862MHZ,the electricity (8 MHZ bandwidth) digital signal is 10dB lower than analog
signal of carrier electricity level. When the input of optical receiver is -1dBm, measure
C/CTB,C/CSO,C/N.

VII. Reverse Optical Receiver Module
1. Summary
 Optic-Electric Convertion part of Reverse Optical Receiver Module is high sensitive PIN
detector .RF Pre-amplifier is all GaAs MMIC circuit.

IX. Condition Monitoring Unit
Intelligent Centralized Condition Monitoring Unit is in the WOS-3000 CATV Optical Fiber
Communication System Platform .It select high-performance RISC microprocessors of PIC series
whose internal circuit is an advanced ASIC design. There is also powerful and complete control
software in it. So that the Monitoring Unit convenient, easy to expand upgrading, but also can
automatically identify each module slot on the type and function.
1. Performance Characteristics
 Its intelligence level is high because it can automatically identify the module type and the
function on slot; provide friendly interface to fully show
humanism modern design of
the industrial equipment.
 When the system under normal operation, the monitoring unit monitor the status of each
equipment module parameters by circle inquiring. And the present state parameters are stored
in the dynamic memory for inquire and invocation.
 When the equipment modules are out of work ,the microprocessor in the equipment
modules report fault information to the main processor in the monitoring unit in time by
breaking forcibly. Then the host processor issue alarm command to give an alarm after
triggering the sound and light alarm system.
 When the system administrator is doing maintenance operations it can inquire about the last
working condition parameters of each state, alarm information of system and fault content
through Network Management Software or the touch keys of the front panel. It not only
facilitate the system administrator’s routine maintenance work greatly, but also help system
administrators locate the fault point in time to recovery system in less time when the system
is out of work.
