1. Welcome to our sharing assembly
(in the middle and bow – wearing Pharaoh Mask)
2. We are going to take you back
in time, right back, to Ancient
times…
3. Ancient Egypt – 3000 years ago
Scene 1: Tutankhamun + Belly
dancers
4. Here deep in the Ancient lands
Amidst the sparkling, desert sands
open arms to introduce…
5. There lies a secret, hidden
well
And this is the story we are here
to tell…
6. It all begins on the banks of
the Nile
Where Pharaohs lived, oozing style
7. Us Pharaoh’s ruled this huge
desert land,
and we built our temples in the
sand.
8. Standing tall they were
impressive
the largest ones were really
massive!
9. We were leaders of fashion and
skirts we did wear, and we shaved
a lot so our heads were bare.
10. Sadly eventually, each of us
will die and be buried in great
pyramids that point to the sky
11. And then, when our families
have finally cried, we’ll be taken
straight away to be mummified.
12. And so by the light of the
desert moon,
A new King was found, it was
Tutankhamun...
13.
was
Was
the
Tutankhamun, or King Tut he
known,
the Great Boy King who took to
throne.
14. He was just a boy and his job
was vast,
To rule the whole of Egypt in
those times past.
15. The job was hard, and
decisions were tough,
But really, King Tut didn’t have
it THAT rough!
16. He
by his
Not to
pretty
had us servants and minders
side,
mention his very own,
bride!
17. Fanning him, feeding him – we
were loyal
This was something, surely no one
could spoil…
18. Then one day, King Tut dropped
dead
“It really is a mystery” everyone
said
Children to carry Tutankhamun to
the side
19. They buried him quickly in a
secret tomb
Deep below the mountains where
there was plenty of room
20. His body was wrapped and left
to go rotten,
The tomb was sealed and the King
was forgotten.
Building the Pyramids + pyramid
dancing
21. One fine day, on the banks of
the Nile,
Us Farmers laid the pyramid
bricks, pile on pile
22. The pyramid builder’s job
often brought on tears,
Because building those huge
pyramids took years and years.
23. I’ve been busy building at a
rapid pace,
with the boiling hot sun rays on
my face
24. I’ve been building too, my
muscles are swelling,
The men in charge are always
yelling!
25. Heave, Heave - we work all
day, and did you know we get no
pay?
26. We work very hard, all for our
King
We’re really proud to build this
tomb for him.
Mummies + Mummy Dance
27. We are mummies, we’re stiff
and cold
we’ve been wrapped up in cloth –
we’re really old!
28. In Ancient times, when people
died
Their bodies were stuffed and bits
taken from inside.
29. Our brains were pulled, with
care I hope,
Through our nose, like a long,
long rope.
30. Our other body bits were put
in a pot
And pickled so they would not rot.
31. In golden coffins, our bodies
now lay,
For 1000s of years that’s where
we’d stay
32. Deep inside the tomb we would
finally rest
Which is why we wanted OUR pyramid
to look the best!
33. 3000 YEARS LATER – November
1922
34. On a warm Egyptian evening – the
sun was setting slow, and the sky all
around was red with a glow.
35. Deep in the rocks, in the
valley of the kings
Where chisels and hammers made
tings and pings
36. A man named Howard was
searching fast
For signs of a secret tomb, from
the past
37. Many of us men helped with a
dig and a tap
Staring hard and using a map
38. Then suddenly, from down in
the sand
A worker yelled to me, “Howard”,
and I ran waving my hand
39. Some steps were uncovered,
quick and fast
And a large old door that would
lead to the past
40. Howard Carter, was pleased
it’s true
And he phoned his friend
Carnarvon, to tell him too!
41. Then one week later, with
Carnarvon and Carter ready, they
got to the door – their hearts
beating steady
42. Was this the tomb of Tut they
said?
Millions of thoughts went round
their heads
43. A small hole was made in the
door
As light flickered through, guess
what they saw?
44. Wonderful things all precious
and gold
Carter’s face lit up at everything
he’d told!
45. For the newly discovered, King
Tut – great things were in store,
And Tutankhamun, was Forgotten no
more!
FACTS
Tutankhamun’s body lay
undiscovered for nearly 3000
years, under rocks and sands in
the Valley of The Kings, Egypt.
One determind British man, Howard
Carter and lots of workers braved
the strong sun for nearly 6 years
hoping to find Tut’s lost tomb.
Hundreds of priceless jewels and
amazing things were found deep in
his tomb untouched and unseen by
daylight for so long.
These precious things are now a
very important part of History and
can be seen in museums all over
the world.
But what happened about the great
curse of Tutankhamun’s tomb?
Some say the tomb is cursed, you
know
For all those who dare enter, deep
below
Those who see where the king first
lay
With their lives, they’ll surely
pay…
Would you dare enter? Would you go
in?
Where the air is cold and the
lights are dim
We’ll end our assembly on this
verse…
Will you be struck down with the
great tomb curse?!!!
