Section 2 – Hazardous Chemicals See Chemical Inventory for each glovebox chemical list. Section 3 – Potential Hazards The glovebox is under positive pressure of nitrogen, so overpressure can occur. Prevent this by slowly placing arms inside the gloves. Use appropriate personal protective equipment: safety glasses and cotton glove liners. Section 4 – Approvals Required Training and approval by Sarpong group glovebox operator is required prior to use. Section 5 – Designated Area Glovebox should be used in the designated area in 839 or 838 Latimer. Section 6 – Special Handling Procedures and Storage Requirements Consult the group operator or the instructions posted on the glovebox. Section 7 – Personal Protective Equipment Safety glasses, cotton glove liners. Section 8 – Engineering/Ventilation Controls Consult the group operator or the instructions posted on the glovebox. Section 9 – Spill and Accident Procedures In case of spill inside the glovebox, wipe up with a KimWipe. If spilled compound is a reactive, remove from glovebox and quench appropriately. If not highly reactive (certain inorganic salts, etc.) then place contaminated KimWipe in waste container inside glovebox to be removed by the operator. In case of spill outside glove box, use paper towels or appropriate spill Kit to absorb chemical that was released and place in appropriate waste container. Section 10 – Waste Disposal Solvent waste can be disposed of in EH&S liquid waste containers outside the glovebox. Solid waste (if not highly reactive) can be placed in the waste container inside the glovebox. Section 11 - Decontamination See MSDS for appropriate response depending upon chemical.
