Classification Diving > Diving - General Available grade Achieved Entry information Critical health and safety prerequisites People seeking credit for this unit standard must hold a current Environmental Protection Authority Approved Filler certificate or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills. Explanatory notes 1 Industry technical and safety criteria refers to the candidate performance being carried out in accordance with the Hazardous Substances (Compressed Gases) Regulations 2004 and code(s) of practice approved by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) pursuant to sections 78 and 79 of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996. 2 All filling operations must comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, the Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995, the Accident Compensation Act 2001, and the Hazardous Substances (Compressed Gases) Regulations 2004. 3 Sufficiency for this unit standard requires the blending and testing of a minimum of two dive cylinders with EANx. One of which must be blended to EAN32 and one of which must be blended to EAN36. 4 Filling of cylinders may only be carried out at approved EPA accredited EANx filling stations. 5 Whilst conducting cylinder filling the candidate must be supervised by a current EPA approved EANx filler who can take over and stop the filling procedure at any time. 6 Definitions Skills Active Aotearoa Limited SSB Code 101576 New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 NZQA registered unit standard 28415 version 1 Page 2 of 3 Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx) refers to either of the two gas mixtures used for recreational EANx SCUBA diving which have an oxygen concentration greater than the 21% present in normal atmospheric air – commonly referred to as EAN32 and EAN36. Organisational requirements refer to a providers own policies and associated documents. SCUBA refers to Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus.
