Dispose Of Empty 2015 Chemical Containers Properly
With planting season drawing to a close, many farmers will have several empty plastic
pesticide containers to dispose of. In order to dispose of these containers properly, the
Bath County Extension Service in cooperation with the Kentucky Department of
Agriculture and Southern States have set up two dates this growing season for farmers to
bring in their empty containers for collection and recycling.
The collection site for Bath County will be the Owingsville Southern States Fertilizer
Plant and the dates farmers can bring in their empty containers will be Thursday, June 25
from 1:00 PM till 3:00 PM and Wednesday, September 23 from 1:00 PM till 3:00 PM.
Farmers can only bring the containers in during these dates and times, so mark your
calendars.
The containers that will be accepted will include any empty plastic pesticide container,
not exceeding 5 gallons in size. All containers must be triple rinsed or pressure rinsed
with water. The caps and loose label booklets must be removed. All containers will be
inspected as they are unloaded and any that have colored liquid or caked product inside
will not be accepted. Remember to mark your calendars for the Rinse and Return
Program and for more information contact your Bath County Extension Office.
