BOARD RESOLUTION FOR CULTURAL RESOURCES PRESERVATION COALITION At the meeting of the Board of Directors of _______________________on (date of meeting), the following resolution was proposed and approved by the board: Resolved: WHEREAS the mission of the ____fill in your organization______is (describe mission)___________________________________________; WHEREAS the Cultural Resources Preservation Coalition (CRPC) is a group of historic preservation, tribal, archaeology, anthropology, trails, recreation, business and place-based organizations and other interested parties, led by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, that advocates for the protection of irreplaceable cultural resources and traditions located or conducted primarily on federal public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the United States Forest Service (USFS) and the National Park Service (NPS), and potentially on other federal lands or nationally significant properties; WHEREAS the mission of the CRPC is to promote the preservation, protection and interpretation of prehistoric, historic and traditional cultural resources on federal public lands by advocating for increased cultural resources funding, staffing, inventorying, planning, compliance, law enforcement, awareness and education in the BLM, USFS, and NPS and potentially other federal agencies; WHEREAS the vision of the CRPC is to ensure that the BLM, USFS, NPS and potentially other federal agencies have the will, the resources and the legal mandates to identify, evaluate, protect and interpret cultural resources on lands they manage; and WHEREAS membership as a partner in the CRPC is defined as a shared commitment to promote the preservation of cultural resources, primarily on federal public lands, by: 1. 2. 3. 4. Agreeing that cultural resources protection should be a priority for federal agencies; Agreeing to be identified as a CRPC member in publications, web pages and educational materials, and agreeing to provide information about the CRPC in one’s own organization’s electronic and paper publications; Opting to co-sign letters to decision makers about issues affecting cultural resources on federal public lands; and Opting to raising awareness about cultural resources preservation on federal public lands by addressing this issue in organizational literature, website and press releases where appropriate.
