A Message from Maurine
LeBeau
Youth Fair Horticulture
Participants
Erlene, I had my first look at the
handbook last night. There are a
couple of issues that need to be
addressed/corrected. The tag-in
for the Horticulture Show is 05
Feb. 2005.
Feb12 is an alternate date if bad
weather occurs on the 5th. This
bad weather would include rain
since we will be shooting the
pictures outside.
We are responsible for the
pictures, not the entrants.
Please advise the entrants that
they are not to provide photos.
Will you put these corrections
or addenda in the newsletter?
Thanks. Maurine LeBeau .

encouragement and support. At
week’s end, recognize
everyone’s success with a small
family treat.
Now take a long term goal that
can be completed within a
month. Break this goal down
into smaller steps with deadlines
for achievement. Plan a simple
family celebration, when all
members have completed their
goals. Finally, look to group
goals that can be achieved
together by the family.

Sometimes we cannot achieve a
goal because it is beyond our
abilities. Use this for positive
learning, exploring why reaching
the goal wasn’t impossible.
Persevering together builds
family strength and unity.
Through perseverance we learn
the importance of commitment,
responsibility and followthrough.

Teen Retreat
4-H’ers who attended the Teen
Retreat were Meghan Schwind,
Mollie and Michael Schwind
and Dean Anderson. These
members are all excellent
representatives for Denton
County 4-H.
PERSEVERANCE
A new year offers a fresh start– a
chance to rethink our goals and
plan for a better year ahead.
Staying focused on our goals
helps us to get where we want to
be. It is not always easy to
persevere, because we tend to
want things immediately. Yet
persistent effort and hard work
make good things happen.
Have everyone in your family
pick a small goal to accomplish
within a week. Write the goals

loyalty, my hands to larger
service and my health to better
living for my club, my
community, my country, and
my world.
