An informational job fair will be hosted in Dallas on Thursday, April 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dallas Public Library (East/West Rooms), 1515 Young Street. Recently named one of the “Top Ten Metropolitan Innovations to Watch in 2013” by the Brookings Metropolitan Policy Program and The Rockefeller Foundation, Pre-K 4 SA is a groundbreaking early childhood education model that will provide high-quality, full-day Pre-K for 2,000 eligible four-year olds in four model education centers in San Antonio. Pre-K 4 SA is designed to dramatically improve early childhood education outcomes by increasing access throughout the city and placing a premium on attracting top teachers and support personnel. Starting pay for master teachers is $60,000 annually. Spearheaded by San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro, Pre-K 4 SA will launch this August with the opening of the first two model education centers. The City of San Antonio is hiring positions for each center, including master teachers. These individuals will plan and implement activities that promote the intellectual, social, emotional and physical growth of four-year-old children enrolled in the program. This position requires at least three years of early childhood teaching experience; a valid teaching certificate with required endorsements to teach early childhood education from any State’s Educator Certification Department; and the ability to obtain certification in Texas. - more - Page 2 San Antonio Hires for Pre-K 4 SA “We are seeking to assemble a team of passionate educators who can motivate students and help build the foundation for our young people’s future success,“ Castro said. “This program has the potential to serve as the model for early childhood education across the country and we want those who are innovative, creative, and dedicated to this mission on our team.” In addition to master teachers, the City is also hiring talented candidates for other Pre-K 4 SA positions, including teacher assistants, nurses, and professional and administrative staff. Pre-K 4 SA The Pre-K 4 SA Initiative will provide high–quality, full-day Pre-K for an estimated 22,000 four-year-olds over eight years, including 2,000 who will be served through four Model Education Centers. The program will improve teacher professional development for all participating school districts from Pre-K through Grade 3. Pre-K 4 SA also will provide high-quality Pre-K services for an additional 1,700 children through a competitive grant process beginning in the 2016/2017 school year with participating school districts and educational providers.
