Ltd (NPP) was established in 1991 by a group of people having more then 26 years of experience in community development through the production of Nepali handmade paper and products. NPP believes that the quality of traditional handicraft goods made from handmade paper should be increased with the aim of developing a growing export market. Over the years we have therefore established ourselves as the leading manufacturer and exporter of quality Nepali handmade paper and paper products. NPP is committed to develop the Nepali traditional craft and methods in hand printing and paper marking so to improve the living standards of the low income families in rural and urban areas of Nepal. For this, we have established different polices, which are: 10 % of net profit is utilized in various community development activities like drinking water project, road construction scholarship to poor girl student ,school’s improvement etc. in girl & urban areas, where Nepali handmade paper is made. 10 % net profit from staff fund is used for staff’s children education & health care. 2. These plants are observed growing gregariously in the under storey of both coniferous and broad leafed forests. At favorable sites it attains a height of 10 to 15 feet with basal diameter ranging from 2 to 3 inches. The leaves are alternate green in color, 2 to 4 inches long and 0.5 to 1 inch wide. The flowers are white with a sweet smelling scent. The inner fibrous bark of this plant is the raw material used for the making of Nepali hand made paper. The "Lokta" or Daphne Papyruses has characteristics of growing after cutting from above 6 inches from the ground and becomes again matured to cut after 6 to 8 years. Thus it preserves the fragile forest ecology of Nepal. The long fibrous in handmade paper is prized for its rough attractive texture its durability, strength and its resistance to insects. 16. 17. Principal Selected: “Principal 5: The effective abolition of child labor.” 3. Policy on the principal: Nepali Paper Products adapts the policy that completely forbids recruitment of new employee who is under age, and or elderly as stated by the Nepalese Government rules & regulation. The labor act of Nepal defines a child as the one below 14 years and a juvenile between 14-18 years of age, elderly as 55 years & above – the minimum age to qualify for any particular job is 18 years. Therefore to abide as per the rules & regulation, NPP has been practicing the following policies & procedures: NPP shall not recruit any individual who is below 18 years of age, or above 55 years of age. Rules & regulation for an appointment – The candidate must have attached own citizenship, and or birth certificate along with application. The citizenship can be obtained only after 16 years of age in Nepal. This requirement must be mentioned clearly with any promotions that are directly involved with in the process of recruitment. 4. Implementation of the Principal: A team approach is carried out for the implementation of the above. Primary team: Managing Director Marketing Director. Assistant Production Manager Administrative officer. Secondary team: Production Manager. Production Supervisor. Dyeing Supervisor. The primary team is directly involved in the process of recruitment. The team is jointly liable to verify the documents & evidences provided at the time of interview. It is also liable to clarify the policies and requirement for the selection of employees during the period of recruitment processes. The secondary team is responsible to communicate with in all levels of employee & prospect to clarify the internal processes for the recruitment in the company. NPP through the division of primary & secondary teams has communicate the above policy through written communication to its stakeholders, suppliers, vendors and paper makers, Lokta cutters (farmers) requesting to stop and abolish child labor in their manufacturing facility. NPP shall always comply with the principals of UN Global Compact together with abolishing child labor completely out of its facility and will be continued in the future as well.
