Country report ( August 2011- August 2012) NRNA NCC Italy 1. Special educational & medical mission to Nepal – from University of Padova Italy with active involvement of NRNA, NCC, Italy September 14-28 . 2011 a. Memorandum of understanding (MOU) had signed between Padova University of Italy (800 years old) & Pokhara University (14 years old): MOU was focused on Medical and environmental sciences. b. Delegation of NRNA Italy visited HE President (Shital Niwas)of Nepal and handed over a Mamorandum to Foreign Ministry for a Nepali diplomatic Mission in Rome. c. Special educational lectures was given to Nepali doctors by president of world society for pediatric cardiac surgery in Kathmandu & operated few pediatric heart patients by Italian Professor per free. Six heart valves and other disposable materials were donated to Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center (SGNHC) and Manamohan Cardio Vascular, Thoracic and Transplant center(MCVTC) of Tribhuban University. Total amount of donation during that mission: 28,170 Euro ( NRs around – 2,817,000) 2. Special Cardiac Mission to Nepal – from “The Heart of Children” Italy Organized by NRNA NCC Italy November 26 - December 05. 2011 a. More than 20 cardiac patients were operated by Italian professors per free and same time Nepali doctors were trained for new techniques of interventional cardiology by Italian professors. Around 150 patients were consulted & investigated by Italian team in Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center. b. Donated many occluding devices, catheters, cannulas and other disposable material of heart surgery to Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center and Manamohan Cardio Vascular, Thoracic and Transplant center of Tribhuban University. Materials were handed over to Director of SGNHC Dr Man Bahadur KC and Excutive Director of MCVTC Prof. Bhagawan Koirala. Total amount of donation during that mission: 48,500 Euro ( NRs around – 4,850,000) Total amount donated I both mission: 76,670 euro (NRs around -7,667,000) 3. NRNA Italy’s great achievement is to have a Honorary consulate in Rome which was not there before. We consider it as our great success to have an honorary consulate of Nepal Government in Rome. 4. A delegation of Pokhara University has visited the Padova University from 1 st to 3rd of July 2012. Both sides has agreed to renew their previous relationship and agreed for new agendas. They have signed few new agreements: a. from 2013 Padova University will provide short term advanced fellowship to 2 Nepali doctors every year. b. They have agreed for exchange program of students and lecturer of both universities. c. Padova university has agreed to support to establish a Medical college of Pokhara University. 5. Nepal promotion program was organized by NRNA NCC Italy jointly with Rotary club of Padova at Sheraton Hotel of Padova, Italy in February 2012 6. Lumbini year program & Nepal Promotion program organized by Nepal Embassy Geneva, Honorary Consul Of Nepal Government for Italy and NRNA Italy jointly on 15 May 2012 7. Third Annual General meeting of NRNA Italy was organized in Rome(29.July 2012) President Jiba Lamichhane was chief guest and European Regional coordinator Mr Kumar Panta was guest from ICC.
