JANUARY
 Eltham, Melbourne carnival
 Sturt Coaching Clinics
 Under 15 Boys/Girls attend the Port Macquarie Carnival and selected country players play
in Albury, Victoria
 Paul Bauer and Marcus Wong selected to lead the ABA Men and Women’s teams in 2006
 Sturt Junior player, Emma Langford plays her first game for the AIS against the Adelaide
Fellas, putting 7 points on the board.
FEBRUARY
 Summer Grand Finals - 9 Grand Final winners with 6 runner-up teams

Scorebench Instruction Day held for parents in the Club by S.T.O.P member Nick Gillings.
MARCH
 Club introduces to the club an Administrative Officer - Beth Humphrys, with office opening
set times, 4 days during the week, for the first time. Uniform Sales shop opens in the
stadium.
 Club Beach Day at Aldinga Beach.
 Adelaide Cup Day, Coaches get together at the Morphettville Racecourse.
APRIL
 Norwood Easter Carnival
 5 Div l and 3 Div 2 Grand Final team winners
 TI Camp at Pasadena for 14/16 Boys/Girls teams
 Club Quiz Day
MAY
 May State Championships winning State Junior Championship. Reserve State Junior
Championships, State Junior Boys Trophy, State Junior Girls Trophy (shared with North
Adelaide) and the Reserves State Trophy. Won 6 Div l grand finals (6 out of 6) and 6
Reserves Grand finals.
 Long term Sturt Junior and current Coach, Paul Harvey leaves for Canada to be married
to his long term partner, Jennifer.
 Under 14 Boys/Girls hold Cabaret at the Goodwood Community Centre. President Mark
Calligeros and his band were the highlight for the night.
 Brett Maher (past Sturt Junior and Adelaide 36er) plays for Sturt ABA team
 Just for Fun Dancing Girls entertain the crowd at ABA night at the Pasadena Stadium.
 Club receives a Grant $550 from Mitcham Council for the City South competition and their
forthcoming Come’n’try Day.
JUNE
 Pasadena Sports Centre shut down after engineer’s report records unsafe floorboards. All
games transferred to other local stadiums available. Bar/Canteen closed down.
 Under 14 Boys and Girls Div l win Gold medals at the June Classics. Sturt players Dylan
Rawson and Isabel Daniels win MVP for the games. Under 16 Boys Div l and Under
Boys Div l win Bronze with Under 16 Boys 2(2) winning a gold medal at Nunawading.
 Michelle Trewartha, past sturt junior, makes the cut for the Miss Universe finals in
Melbourne,
 Photo Day on Court l at the Pasadena Stadium
JULY
 City South Domestic Competition, Come’n’Try Day held at Westminster School with 100
children. ABA players coached the children.
 Under 18 Girls take out the Bronze Medal, with Sturt Players, Jess McPhail and Kara
Hargreaves in the team. 6 Boys/5 Girls in U16 and 4 Girls/5 Boys in U18 make the
respective state metropolitan and country teams.
 Life Member, Maxine Hunter passes away (sister of Leonie Ware).
 Under 14 Boys Div l hold a Picture night at the Capri
 Emma Langford, past Sturt junior, plays in the U19 Australian Gems team in China, Laura
Summerton, past sturt Junior, has a good start with the Connecticut Suns in the WNBA in
the USA.
AUGUST
 ABA Grand Finals with Women winning and Men coming runner-up against both
Forestville teams. Angela Marino and Darren Ng win Womens/Mens MVP.
 Woollacott Medal Winner, Darren Ng takes the coveted award. Paul Bauer, ABA Coach
takes out Coach of the Year for 2006
 5 Sturt Under 12 Boys and 3 Under Girls selected in the SAPSASA carnival in Perth.
 Tim Hisgrove, Life Member, steps down from Senior Co-ordinator role after many years
with the club.
 Club external trials at Concordia College
 Jordan Dodman selected to attend Oceania U19 Australian team.
 Annual General Meeting held at the clubrooms with Daryl Simmons, ex Sturt Junior player
in the 70’s, stepping into the role of President.
 ABA Women fly to Newcastle, NSW to play in the ABA Conference Championships.
SEPTEMBER
 Junior Presentation Evening at the Pasadena Sports Centre stadium
 Indianna Mesecke, born to our Coaching Director Paul Mesecke and wife Jo.
 Under 14 Boys take out Bronze Medal in Ulverstone, Tasmania with Scott Butler as the
coach and Under 14 Girls with Coach Matthew Gliddon, coming 5 th in Brisbane in the
Australian Club U14 Boys/Girls Championships.
 Team Managers ‘Thankyou’ Dinner at Hyde Park Tavern
 Junior Grand Final week with 6 teams taking out Grand Final wins
 City South Finals
 ABA players Jordan Dodman selected into Adelaide 36ers squad, Angela Marino to Perth
Lynx club and Oscar Forman leaves to play for New Zealand league
OCTOBER
 Senior Presentation at the Adelaide Bowling Club
 Club receives $2,200 grant from the Dept of Sports and Recreation Active Club Grants to
use in the development of the City South Domestic Competition.
 District starts new season with 50 Junior and 6 Senior teams. City South Domestic
Competition has grown to 11 Blue Devils teams.
NOVEMBER
 U18 Claybrin McMath invited to the All Australian Junior Development Camp in Canberra,
and Paul Mesecke, Junior Coaching Director, invited to the 2007 Australian Junior
Development Camp in Canberra in January. U18 players leave for USA on SASI tour.
 Club receives a Grant from the Federal Government $1490 for a laptop and printer to use
in recording the history of our club.
DECEMBER
 Mal Penno, past Sturt junior and current ABA Assist Coach, appointed Senior Manager
 Club Christmas Party at Mercedes College
