The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Department of Pediatrics and the Arkansas Center for Birth
Defects Research and Prevention (Arkansas Center) offer an exciting opportunity for a scientist to join a multidisciplinary
team of clinicians and scientists engaged in studies of genetic and environmental factors causing birth defects. The
Arkansas Center is one of 10 Centers for Birth Defects Research and Prevention in the United States and an active site
for the National Birth Defects Prevention Study.
Suitable candidates will possess a record of established ongoing funded research with expertise in molecular biology,
genetics, biochemistry or related field. This unique opportunity combines highly integrated bench and translational
components of genetic epidemiology applied to the field of birth defects. The candidate will be expected to establish
his/her own independent laboratory that will complement the research activities of the Genomics and Metabolic
Laboratories at the Arkansas Center.

Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, and should possess qualifications suitable for appointment at the Associate Professor
