EE69 MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS for NTEU New South Wales Rule 3 - Members 3.1 The Union shall consist of unlimited number of persons employed or usually employed in or in connection with institutions of higher education in New South Wales (present or future) in any academic position. Each of the following positions, in respect of the university under which it is listed, shall be deemed to be an academic position for the purpose of Rule 3.1: (a) Macquarie University (i) The University Librarian (ii) The Deputy Librarian (iii) The Technical Services Librarian (iv) The Reader Services Librarian (v) The Associate University Librarian (Acquisitions and Budget) (vi) The Associate University Librarian (Cataloguing) (vii) The Associate University Librarian (Reader Services) (viii) The University Consultant for Staff Development (ix) The Director of Student Counselling (b) The University of New England (i) The Archivist (ii) The Librarian (iii) The Deputy Librarians (c) The University of Sydney (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) (v) (vi) (vii) (viii) (ix) (x) (xi) (xii) (d) The Curator of the Power Gallery of Contemporary Art The Curator of the Macleay Museum Deans of Faculties, not otherwise included Student Counsellors Electron Microscopists The Manager of the Computing Centre Senior Clinical Instructors Clinical instructors The University Archivist The University Librarian The Associate Librarians The Director of the Student Counselling Service The University of New South Wales (i) Project Officers and Senior Project Officers (ii) Project Scientists and Senior Project Scientists (iii) Language Teachers (Institute of Languages) (e) The University of Newcastle (i) Lecturer in Charge of Language Laboratory (ii) Wardens of University Halls (iii) Post-Doctoral Research Fellows 3.3 Membership shall consist of an unlimited number of members of the academic staff of colleges of advanced education. 3.4 Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-rule 3.1 of this Rule, membership of the Union shall be open to persons in the following positions: -2- (a) The positions of all professional, administrative, clerical, computing and technical staff (not including early childhood teachers, catering, cleaning, security, parking attendants, caretakers and handy persons, gardening, child care, trades up to and including the level of leading hands, and health, fitness and leisure instructors and attendants, but including managerial positions) employed by associations of students or students and others, whether incorporated or not, which exist primarily or exclusively for the purpose of providing services to, or representation of, students of higher education institutions. -3-
