Highest Academic qualification:
Critical Care Assistant (Paramedic) This qualification is registerable at the Medical
and Dental Council as a professional Qualification. It is recognized academically
as equivalent to a Senior certificate and a 3 year national diploma.
The qualification comprises various levels of education, including Advanced
traumatology, neonatology, Cardiology and resuscitation techniques. Chemistry,
Mathematics, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology etc. are subjects studied.
The older paramedics (of which I am one) also did a block on business
administration, labour law and municipal administration.
