Methodology: The courses are held for general practitioners who have been determined by Ankara branch of Association of General Practitioners. Standardized-patient encounters were the basis for the courses in management of chronic disease treatment. Training Material: The Guide to Chronic Disease Management developed by Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine Department of Medical Education and Informatics was used within the training. 5 standardized-patient encounters were conducted on the basis of 5 different cases. 5 general practitioners were participated in this training. Different aspects of the topic (such as exercise therapy, nutrition, use and adverse effects of medications, trust relationship between the physician and the patient) were examined through each standardized-patient. This training was arranged on June 24-25th June 2009. After completion of standardized-patient education, the general practitioners underwent another training at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine Center for Training Evaluation on 2nd July 2009. The general practitioners had interviews with standardized-patients at Center for Training Evolution. After these encounters, training on treatment monitoring in patients with chronic disease and communicational skills was provided for the general practitioners. Subsequently, trainees’ videos were watched. Each general practitioner was required to assess his/her own video. One of them carried out the evaluation in basis of Guide to Chronic Disease Management. The instructor gave feedback about each interview. After watching all of the videos, the general practitioners attended to interviews once again, with different scenarios. The videos of both interviews and feedback in the basis of Guide to Chronic Disease Management were given to the general practitioners. A similar training was repeated with the participation of 8 general practitioners on 28th October 2009. Subsequent to training, 2 meetings were held on November 2009 in the basis of the purpose of education and learning objectives. It was stated through received verbal feedback that the courses on treatment monitoring in elderly patients have been effective. Good points of training program and bad points those should be improved were also evaluated in these meetings. Necessary efforts that can be made in monitoring patients with chronic diseases and home care were assessed by Ankara branch Chairman of Association of General Practitioners and the instructors on 14-15th February 2010. They also decided to hold a meeting with the participation of the representatives of particularly nurses and other health workers in order to carry on this educational program. Conclusion: Ankara branch of Association of General Practitioners offered central administration of the Association to spread this training program countrywide.
