B.Fradkin resume Boris Fradkin 2 Electrical Parameters Measurement Component Executive Summary 1. The products Electrical Parameters Measurement Component (EPMC). Four types of EPMC will be developed as a pilot for a long line of EPMC products: o Simple SMT current sensor o Multi System Module o RCD – Residual Current Device o SIP type EPMC This product is patentable and has no analogs in the entire world. 1.1. General The Electrical Parameters Measurement Component is a completely new product. A patent search was performed, no such product is available on the market. This product relates to the field of measurement equipment and in particular to electrical parameters measurement equipment. The Electrical Parameters Measurement Component can be used in every power supply, alarm equipment, control equipment, relay pannels etc. For an Application list please see Appendix A The Electrical Parameters Measurement Component includes a new technology current sensor, a voltage sensor and a Data Processing Unit. The Electrical Parameters Measurement Component provides measurement and control of electrical parameters in different electrical appliances and devices. Modern technologies are used in the project: SMT, modern SW programs, ASIC The business potential is extremely high because such kind of devices does not exist on the world market. Highly professional personnel with tens of years of experience are working on this project. 1.2.Distinguishing features The EPMC permits SMT design even for big currents. No additional soldering process is required, only reflow. The EPMC permits to reduce the assembled card height. Reduced heights of the cards permit to insert more cards in the same rack. The EPMC is more compact, saving Printed Circuit Board area. It is easy to customize the component if the customer has special needs. Boris Fradkin 3 Electrical Parameters Measurement Component Executive Summary 1.2.1 Old and new current sensor Old Current Sensor New Proposed Current Sensor 1. By increasing the primary current the diameter of the primary wire and the dimensions of the sensor are increasing significantly. By increasing the primary current the number of layers of the PCB is increasing, but the dimensions of the sensor are not increasing significantly. 2. A magnetic material with saturation gives non linearity of measurement and saturation at big currents. Completely linear without saturation. 3. A non symmetrical position of wires in RC Devices causes false operation. Completely symmetrical without false operation. 4. Very low accuracy (±10% in standard devices, 0,2% in calibration devices). Highest accuracy (the target is ±0.05%). 5. Through hole devices. SMT devices only for low currents. SMT for all ranges of current. 6. Through hole devices – old technology, two technological processes must be used. New technology, only one technological process is used. 7. Through hole devices with a magnetic material have large dimensions. Small dimensions save PCB area. 8. Output voltage is measured in 5-10 mV (very low). Output voltages: a) Analog – Volts b) Digital – 10-14 bits (serial, parallel) SPI or RSxxx protocols 9. Output voltage needs amplification and signal processing. No amplification and signal processing is needed. 10. No consistency in parameters. Unmatched parameters consistency. 11. Maximum electromagnetic interference. Minimum electromagnetic interference. 12. Restricted operating temperature range. Wide operating temperature range. 1.2.2. Product Reliability The expected MTBF is more than 500 years. The product is a universal consumer product and will be a shelf product. On the basis of the universal component a custom design can be provided. 1.2.3. Project obstacles A theoretical and practical feasibility study was performed: we do not see any technological or practical obstacles in executing the project. Boris Fradkin 4 Electrical Parameters Measurement Component Executive Summary 1.3 Brand Name Brand name was chosen and shall be registered. After the registration the name will be public. 1.4. Manufacturing Status There are no theoretical problems in EPMC production. Hybrid production technology can be implemented. 1.5. Contract status There are no contracts between the inventor and any investor or manufacturer up to now. 1.6. Product Manager Boris Fradkin, the inventor. Contact details: address- 9 Hadas st., Oranit 44813, P.O.Box 6225 Israel Tel: 972-3-9360186, Fax 972-3-9369163 Mobile: 972-54-720-827 e-mail: fradkin@netvision.net.il 1.7. Product packaging Two types of packages are proposed: a. Trays b. Tubes The choice of the package will be based on price proposals and / or available manufacturing facilities at the manufacturer's site. 2. The Market 2.1 Size of the Market The market for current transformers was examined. There are more than 8800 manufacturers of the old model current transformers in the entire world. The current transformers market is around 8 billion US$. It is very difficult to evaluate the market for other EPMC applications (see Appendix A) because the numbers are huge. The total world market is measured in Billions of US$. The market is constantly growing in parallel with electrical apliances and control devices growth (about 10% annually). 2.2. Competition There are on the market many types of old model current transformers, but none of them has the advanced features of the EPMC. That’s why it is very difficult to compare these devices. No other EPMC is available on the market, therefore the market for EPMC will grow fast. Boris Fradkin 5 Electrical Parameters Measurement Component Executive Summary 2.2.1. Patent Status. a. A patent search was performed: no such device is patented. The EPMC is patentable. b. From the point of view of somebody's rights violation: we do not violate any rights of anybody. 2.3. Advertising A component catalog and data sheets must be issued. Booklet: four pages, 5 languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Chinese/Japanese. 2.4. Sales Forecast: First year of production: 150,000 units Second year of production: 250,000 units Third year of production: 400,000 units The above assumes availability of a good advertising campaign. 2.4.1. Off-factory price, retail price The off-factory price of the plain current transformer shall be around US$0.30. Complex EPMC with controller and /or swith devices shall be some US dollars depending on the needed parameters to be measured and accuracy class. 2.5. Distribution Channels Marketing companies of electronic components will include this product in the line of other products and will use the same distribution channels as for other products. The EPMC is unique in the line and therefore will not be an obstacle in marketing other products. 2.6 Timetable and Areas of responsibility 2.6.1. Two major parts of the project The project can be divided into two major parts: mechanics + PCB design and electronics. The person responsible for the mechanical design, is very experienced designer. He has designed many devices, and such a design as in the proposed device will not be difficult for him. The person responsible for electronics, Mr.B.Fradkin, has tens of years of experience as a project manager and development electronic engineer. He was a project leader of such projects like Cornas 2000 (F-4 Fantom airjet upgrading), project leader of Omnifax multifunctional fax machine and many other projects. Conclusion In our opinion, there is a golden opportunity to penetrate the existing huge market of electrical measurement equipment with an absolutely new patentable device. We do not see any technological obstacles in this project. Time to the market is extremely short. This market is constantly growing, so the sales of the EPMC will grow constantly. Cooperation with one of the biggest marketing companies provides us confidence and ensures financial and logistic backup in marketing.
