Applicants are evaluated on academic excellence, leadership potential, community 11/1/15 service, & financial need. Must have made significant contributions to and 1/9/16 society. App requires essays, letters of rec, and transcript. Apply by 11/1/15 to be considered for this and other scholarships. Alpha Phi Alpha MLK Scholarship: Scholarship for African-American 11/11/15 males seeking a baccalaureate degree. Requirements: GPA of 2.5 or (extended higher, active in both school and community. Application, transcript, photo deadline) head shot, 2 letters of recommendation required. Pick up an application packet in the counseling office. Extended deadline. Danforth Scholars Program: Awards partial- and full-tuition renewable scholarship. To be considered, students must be nominated by a teacher by November 15th. After being nominated, students must submit application, short answers, essay, and transcript to the committee by 11/15/15 1/15/16. Student must also apply to Wash U. including essay, recommendations, and ACT or SAT scores by 1/15/15. Eligible students demonstrate strong academics, school/community involvement, and high moral character. Stokes Education Scholarship Program Stokes Educational Scholarship Program: Open to students planning to major in computer science or computer/electrical engineering. Scholarship includes $30,000/year towards tuition, free housing, summer travel 11/15/2015 expense, and year-round, paid work commitment through the National Security Agency (NSA). Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA and ACT of 25 or higher. Must have a 2.75 GPA and plan to attend a 2or 4- year college/university. Requires a transcript, 2 letters of recommendation, and an essay. Elks Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship: Open to all high school students who are US citizens planning to pursue a 4-year degree. Evaluated on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. To enter, students are asked to share how they will bring an end to bullying once and for all while living the Mean Stinks mantra of spreading nice to make a positive impact on those around them. AXA Achievement Scholarship: Scholarship for seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in activities in school, community AXA or the workplace and will be attending a 2 or 4 year college/university Achievement 12/15/2015 next fall. State winners are awarded $10,000 and a chance to win an Scholarship additional $15,000 at the national level. Very competitive. Applications available online at www.axa-achievement.com NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award: 100 nonrenewable scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $15,000 will be awarded to seniors who have NFIB Young demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and initiative (e.g., running their own Entrepreneur 12/18/15 officially established business). Receive tuition assistance of $2,500 for Golden Apple first 2 years, $5,000 for junior and senior years at one of 53 participating January Scholars of Illinois schools. Students must major in education, participate in 4 summer 2016 Illinois Institute programs, & earn a teaching certificate. Taylor Scholarship (for Rockford area students): Offers a fully funded education at the University of Minnesota Mr. and Mrs. College of Science and Engineering. Greenhouse Scholar JFK Profiles in Courage Essay Contest GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Greenhouse Scholars: Awards up to $5,000 per yr. ($20,000 in total). Provides personal and financial support, including one-on-one mentorship, and leadership training. Open to students who are planning to attend a 4January 4, yr college. Must have cum unweighted 3.5+ GPA, financial need 2016 (<$70,000 annual household income), strong commitment to helping community, strong leadership skills, and ability to persevere through difficult circumstances. Essay should demonstrate the understanding of the book by John F. Kennedy Profiles of Courage. GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program: In honor of the legacy of President Ronald Reagan, numerous students who demonstrate 1/7/16 exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship will receive $10,000 renewable scholarships. Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC): Full tuition scholarship and fees, allowance for books, and up to $5,000 stipend for students planning on attending four-year college. Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) Scholarship: Four year scholarship covering full tuition, books, fees, and uniforms plus a monthly stipend. Students can apply for 1 of 3 scholarship options: Navy, Marines or Nurse which will prepare student to be an officer in the Navy. After graduation, student will be a commissioned officer serving in the Navy. Students must have an ACT of 22 in English and 21 in Math. Open to students who have completed the first semester of their senior year of high school with plans to attend an Illinois college or university. Must be sponsored by the DAR 2/1/16 Chapter, so application must include a letter of support from sponsoring DAR chapter. Marist College Technology Scholarships: Awards 5 full 4-year tuition, room and board scholarship, with internships & research with Fortune 100 As early as companies, special advising, and mentoring.
