He is a recipient of the Bronze Star and Air Medal, performing during his service such duties as Air Force Security Police Specialist, Audio-Visual Production Specialist, Combat Aerial Photographer. While still on active duty and attending Syracuse University to pursue a career in electronic journalism, Mark lost his much of sight as a result of a rare reaction to Lyme’s Disease caused by a tick bite that went unnoticed.
