UK Trade & Investment, the international business development agency of the British
Government, is hosting a Nanotechnology in Energy Trade Mission in Houston which
includes two internationally renowned trade shows – NanoTech Conference 2009 (NISTI)
and the Offshore Technology Show (OTC). With over 75,000 attendees and hundreds of
exhibitors expected, this is an excellent opportunity to highlight British capabilities in
nanotechonogly applications in the oil and gas indust ry.
Nanotech 2009 is the largest international nanotechnology conference in the world. The unique
aspect of this conference is that it brings together business, government, and science expertise
for the common goal of bringing nanotechnology innovation into the mainstream. More than
5,000 people representing 67 countries are expected to attend this year .
Held annually in Houston, OTC 2009 is the energy industry’s key conference and exhibition
focused on cutting edge offshore technology. In 2008, close to 72,000 participants from 120
nations attended the show with a total of 2,200 exhibiting companies.

Discussing current innovative collaborations between the oil & gas sector
emerging nanotechnologies, a panel of experts and technology leaders
address trends in nanotechnology within the oil & gas market. During

UKTI will set one-on-one appointments for all delegates. Company meetings will
be with researchers, venture capitalists, operators, and other oil & gas industry
executives.

Private Network Reception at Rice University
Rice University is home the world-renowned Richard E. Smalley Institute for Nanoscale Science and
Technology. The Rice Alliance, who is devoted to technology Entrepreneurship and UKTI will host a
private reception, with our UK delegation as honoured guests. Throughout the evening, there will be
opportunities to tour the Smalley Institute.
