Earthquake Project Your project is to prepare a presentation that addresses several key points about earthquakes that is specifically designed for high-school students. On the 1st slide you should have a title page with your name, class period, and a picture you feel represents earthquakes. The 2nd slide should explain to the viewer why it's important to know about earthquakes. Why should they care? The 3rd -5th slides should have a diagram showing each of the three plate boundaries as well an explanation of what occurs at each boundary. The 6th – 11th slides should include definitions and pictures of the following terms epicenter, focus, fault, seismologist , seismogram, Richter scale, Mercalli scale. (Epicenter and focus can be on the same slide, the others should be separate) The 12th slide should explain why and how earthquakes occur. The 13th slide should include the Earth Quake risk for North Carolina(you may want to use an image to help you explain this information ). See the link below for help: http://www.mgs.md.gov/esic/brochures/earthquake.html. The 14th and 15th slides should focus on a major historical quake. The earthquake you mention should be at least 6.0 or larger on the Richter scale. Include information on the date of the quake, the location, and what kind of damage occurred or any other important information. The 16th part should be a list of your references you used to make the presentation. Use appropriate citations. Follow the MLA format. Note: Keep the vocabulary and comprehension at an appropriate level (remember your audience). Use good grammar, punctuation and spelling, and take the time to produce a product that you are proud of! Make it neat, presentable and interesting. DO NOT CUT AND PASTE PARAGRAPHS FROM THE INTERNET!!! Name_________________ The following table is a rubric you can use to help you create your Presentation.
