New High-end Offer: “Black Forest e-drive Experience
2015”
The Black Forest holiday region wants to become “the most environmentally-friendly
rural tourist region in Germany”. As well as the hosts’ numerous environmental
certifications and environmentally-friendly holiday offers, environmentally-friendly
transport options are important factors here.
In the south-west of the country, sporting ambitions, exclusive driving experiences and
an incredible variety of landscapes all come together in the form of the “Black Forest edrive experience 2015”. With high-performance electric vehicles by Tesla, Schwarzwald
Tourismus GmbH (Black Forest Tourism Ltd.) and the organizer “drive in motion –
automotive events” offer guided round trips through Germany’s most beautiful
playscape.
The motto “from 0 to Black Forest in 3.4 seconds” plays on the unrivalled specs of the
electric sports car: it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than four seconds, can
travel up to 460 kilometres with one charge of its 85 kWh battery and has a top speed of
over 220 km/h. And all of that without any CO2 emissions.
At the presentation of the cooperation as part of the CMT trade fair in Stuttgart, STG
chief executive Christopher Krull stressed: “With the offerings from drive-in-motion –
automotive events we can provide comfort-oriented sports car drivers with an exclusive,
yet environmentally-friendly round trip package for the Black Forest. In this way we want
to get more people interested in the high-end gastronomy and accommodation on offer
in the Black Forest”.
The offer was conceived with both German and foreign guests in mind. For that reason,
the guided round trips start at MOTORWORLD near Stuttgart, arcing their way through
the Black Forest with a break at Hotel Bareiss’ Sattelei cottage in Baiersbronn. On the
three-day tours the teams stay two nights at four-star Hotel Ritter in Durbach.
The guided one and three day tours are for between 10 and 30 participants in each
case. Each two participants share an e-drive Tesla S, Tesla P85D Performance or Tesla
Roadster model. Extensions, an energy rally or team competitions on alternative energy
sources can also be booked.
As a one-day tour, the high-performance offer includes lunch and a coffee break for
€699, while the three-day tour including two overnight stays with full board in the
Wellnesshotel Ritter in Durbach can be booked for € 1249. Further information on the
“Black Forest e-drive Experience 2015” can be found at: Tel. 0049 7142.9172860,

Environmentally friendly mobility, developed logically
In a destination like the Black Forest, ever-rising numbers of holidaymakers usually lead
to higher volumes of traffic and the associated environmental damage. However, an
intact environment is a necessary requirement for touristic growth. In order to reduce the
numbers of vehicles on the roads, the heavily-reduced RIT Schwarzwaldticket (Black
Forest ticket) was introduced for train travel as far back as 1996.
Since then, holidaymakers can travel to the holiday region from any station in Germany
for a reasonable price, even with the high-speed ICE, and without being tied to a
particular train. Since 2013 the ticket can also be booked directly with your
accommodation provider.
In 2005, Schwarzwald Tourismus GmbH (Black Forest Tourism Ltd.) developed the
KONUS project. The guest card with the Konus mark provides free transport in all buses
and trains (2nd class). It allows holidaymakers in the Black Forest region unlimited free
travel during their stay in the 11,100 square kilometer holiday region where the countries
of Germany, Switzerland and France meet. In 2015, over 10,000 accommodation
providers in 143 different resorts gave the free Konus guest card to holidaymakers on
their arrival.
KONUS and the Schwarzwaldticket significantly contribute to reducing air and noise
pollution caused by individual holiday traffic. Environmentally-friendly mobility also helps
to curb the zoning of land for additional roads.
Back in 2009, Schwarzwald Tourismus GmbH provided its 321 member municipalities
with the necessary elements to make a decision on a “successful, tourist-oriented
development and marketing of electromobility offers” with its “ZUMO” (Future Mobility in
the Black Forest Holiday Region) project.
Since 2010 they have successfully forged ahead with the comprehensive development
of the e-bike network: more than 200 free charging stations and around 100 docking
stations for e-bikes are listed in a foldable pocket map that Schwarzwald Tourismus
GmbH produced in conjunction with Naturenergie AG. The map also shows around 100
charging stations for electric cars. A consistently updated overview and detailed
information can be found at www.lemnet.org
In 2011, the 77 kilometre long Seenradweg in the upper Black Forest was the first cycle
way to be especially marked for e-bikes.
In 2012, Hochschwarzwald Tourismus GmbH (Upper Black Forest Tourism Ltd.)
developed an e-smart lending system for holidaymakers with the Hochschwarzwald
Card. It is being replaced in 2015 with the first touristic car-sharing system for electric
cars. The four-seater BMW i3 electric cars which are intended for this purpose are also
available to holidaymakers without the Hochschwarzwald Card, as well as to locals.

According to BMW, the electric cars have a range of 200 kilometres and a top speed of
150 km/h. More information at www.hochschwarzwald-card.de
And so the “Black Forest e-drive Experience 2015” rounds off the offerings in the highperformance segment for both German and foreign guests.
