The development of 5kW off-grid wind generator set Chen Li Wang Yeping China Aerodynamics Research & Development Center China Aerodynamics Research & Development Center has cooperated with Hunan Dongdi Science and Technology Development Company in the development of a new-style 5kW off-grid wind generator set. This product has such specialties as follows: The main performance parameters: startup wind speed 3m/s, rated wind speed 9m/s, rated rev 200rpm, Cp>0.4, efficiency coefficient of generator η=0.82, rated output power pe=5~5.5kW. A special mechanism can adjust pitching angles of blades to ensure the set starting at low wind speed and being protected at high wind speed. A special type of contactless self-excitation high performance generator has been developed and patented. The main configuration and testing results will be presented in the paper. It has such advantages as follows: 1. It exceeds other generators of same power, same rev, and same type in efficiency by 5%~10%. 2. Its rated efficient power is 0.82. And the efficiency is higher than 0.8 with the rev ranging between 0.5~1.5 times rated rev. 3. It matches the power of impeller well. The load power is in direct proportion to 2.6~2.8 power of rotated speed of impeller. 4. It has great overload capacity. In the condition of load exceeding full by 50%, it works 4 hours normally. 5. Its startup resistance moment is very low.
