Program Requirements
• Meet and maintain “on grade level” status each semester. (Meet all promotion requirements and maintain a
minimum of a “C” average in academic subjects).
• Stone Science and Technology Choice Program endeavors to provide students with educational activities that
integrate various technologies in a greater degree than standard middle school curriculum. Many of these
technologies are computer and internet based, including webquests, simulations, research, and media
analysis. Stone Science and Technology Choice Program also utilizes a web-based content management
system that allows our teachers to post and collect assignments, as well as deliver web-based activities,
similar to distance learning or college online courses.
For these reasons, it is an expectation that Stone Science and Technology Choice Program Students:
1. Are permitted to use the internet at school
2. Have regular (daily) access to an internet-connected computer.
• Meet adult family member requirement to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours per academic school year. A
minimum of ten hours must be completed during the first semester.
• Participate in a science and/or technology elective each year (see list of eligible courses on registration form).

Application Process
Stone Middle School Science and Technology Choice Program offers a challenging curriculum for students. As a
Program of Choice, any student who meets the admission requirements may request to attend provided there is
space available. The design of the program accommodates acceleration opportunities within a high school
preparatory curriculum. If there are more students interested in the Program of Choice than space available, there
will be a lottery for acceptance. To be eligible for sibling preference, an enrollment application must be received
by the regular application deadline and the sibling currently attending Stone Middle School must be registered to
attend Stone Middle School Science and Technology Choice Program or the Palm Bay High PIRATES academy
for the next school year.
Incomplete applications (i.e. missing report cards, test scores, etc.) will not be entered into the lottery.
