Jonathan Harker’s thoughts after he discovered the Count laying the table in the dining room was that he realized that the Count didn’t have any servants and that he was doing all of the work around the castle. (pg. 38)
2. Count Dracula claims to be the ancestor of what famous warrior?
Count Dracula claims to be the ancestor of Attila the Hun. (pg. 39)
3. What does the Count warn Jonathan not to do when he is alone at night?
Count Dracula warns Jonathan Harker not to sleep anywhere in the castle except his own room because there are chances of bad dreams in other parts of the castle. He should be safe in his own room. (pg. 45)
4. Describe the way Jonathan Harker sees the Count leave the Castle.
Jonathan Harker sees Count Dracula leave the castle by climbing out of the window, and down the wall (face down). He was moving quickly and like a lizard. (pg. 47)

As Jonathan Harker wakes up in the parlor he finds himself in the room with three beautiful women, and one tried to suck his blood. (pg. 51-52)

The Count’s reaction to finding the women with Jonathan Harker was rage. He was furious and his face was deathly pale and his eyes were blazing. He threw one of the women. (pg. 53)
7. What does Jonathan Harker believe he hears coming from the bag the Count had thrown to the floor?
Jonathan Harker believes that he hears a low wail and a gasp coming from the bag the Count had thrown to the floor. He believed that it was a half-smothered child. (pg. 54)

The women and the bag disappeared through the window and into the rays of the moonlight. (pg. 54)
9. The Count instructs Jonathan to write three letters home. What is the content of these letters?
The content of the first letter that Jonathan Harker writes says that his work is nearly done and that he would be leaving in a few days. The content of the second letter that he writes says that he would be leaving the next morning from the time of the letter. The content of the third letter that he writes says that he had left the castle and had arrived in Bistritz.

Jonathan Harker discovers very little furnishings and other odd things. All of the furniture was covered with dust. He also finds piles of gold and stained chains and ornaments. In the corner of the room, he found a heavy door that opened to a stone passage. (pg. 64-65)
17. Jonathan tells the Count that he wants to leave the night of 29 June, but he suddenly changes his mind. Why?
Jonathan Harker suddenly changes his mind about leaving the 29 th
night of June because he hears the wolves’ howl and knew that if he walked outside the wolves would kill him. He decided to wait instead. (pg. 67-68)
