Registered Nurse - Gastroenterology
Location: Chicopee – Gastroenterology
Hours: 30
Job Responsibilities:












Assess patients prior to gastroenterology procedure and provide physician with all necessary information.
Monitors patients’ cardiopulmonary status, pain level and level of consciousness during the procedure and the
recovery phase.
Responds to changes in patients’ status (pre, intra, and post procedure) appropriately.
Administers emergency medication under the direction of the physician according to ACLS guidelines.
Complete documentation using designated forms.
Instructs patient on pre, intra, and post procedure care.
Assists physicians with biopsies, dilation, cautery, sclerosing, PEG’s and Paracentesis.
Maintain efficient patient flow.
IV insertion and maintenance.
Set up and dismantling of scopes/procedure room.
Monitors supplies and schedules for Gastroenterology department.
Assist the Adult Medicine with the care of acutely ill patients, Telephone Triage and IV Therapy when the
endoscopies are not scheduled or as necessary.
Education/Relevant Experience:
 Current Massachusetts RN license, ACLS certification and CPR certification.
 3-5 years critical care/ER experience.
 Endoscopy experience preferred.
 Conscious sedation course preferred.
 Proficient in IV Therapy.
