The Faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies at the University of Vienna invites applications for a Professorship in Austrian History expected to start on October 1st, 2007. The appointment is a full-time, permanent position under private law. Applicants should possess postgraduate qualification beyond the doctoral level; outstanding scientific qualifications in research and teaching pertaining to the discipline; pedagogical and didactic ability; evidence of academic leadership skills; relevant international experience within his/her area of expertise. if possible, experience outside the university pertaining to the discipline A relevant teaching qualification (venia docendi) is preferred. The professorship includes the cooperation in one of the following research foci of the Faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies as stated in the Development Plan of the University of Vienna: - Austria in her surroundings - teacher’s training and didactics of history (“didactic memory”) - dictatorship – violence – genocides - historical- cultural sciences of Europe The ability and the willingness to shoulder a full work load in the fields of the Diploma, B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. programs in history and in teacher’s education in history are presupposed.
