Launceston General Hospital Basic Physician and Advanced Trainees/ Department of Medicine Available from 17.1.12 Basic applications close 22.7.11 Advanced applications close: 19.8.11 The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is a 350 bed teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania incorporating the Northern Clinical School and is classified as level three for Physician Training with the RACP. The Launceston General Hospital has a record of success in preparing candidates for the written and clinical exam. The Department of Medicine offers an exciting program with a high educator to candidates ratio who can undertake mini cex, learning needs analysis and case base discussion. There are currently 40 FRACP specialists available, an interventional fellow and 6 advanced trainees in gastroenterology, cardiology and general medicine to conduct formal and informal tutorials and long and short cases. The Department of Medicine has a strong research culture with many physicians conducting independent and clinical trial based research with affiliation with the Clifford Craig Medical Research Trust.
