HL 1007: Classical Literature
This course will introduce students to many of the major figures of classical literature,
including Homer, Plato, Aristotle, Sophocles, Aristophanes, Ovid, and Boethius. Because the
course is designed to serve as a foundation for on-going studies here at NTU, many of the
lectures will consider the importance of these figures in their own right, while other lectures
will focus on these figures’ continued contemporary influence, especially by looking at recent
versions of their works by authors such as James Joyce and Margaret Attwood.
