Recent reports in the media regarding the conversion, registration,
funding and licensing of a certain make of taxi under the “ Taxi Recapitalisation Scheme”, that does not comply with the standards set
for the Department for this scheme, refers.
1. Is there an investigation underway in the North West Province
regarding these non-compliant taxi’s,
2. If not, why not,
3. If yes, then,
4. How many are operating in the North West Province,
5. Were any of these taxi’s converted in the North West Province,
6. If yes, what action is envisaged against the firm’s that did these
conversions,
7. What action is envisaged against the registration / licensing
authorities for registering / licensing non-compliant taxi’s,

taxi’s from the roads,
