From Plato's Cave to the Cave of Virtual Reality. Plato, in the Socratic dialogue "The Republic", in order to describe the "ideal state" uses an allegory of a cave. This description 2000 years later has spawned many ideas and applications. We will briefly examine some of them. Then we will focus on the way the Foundation of the Hellenic World inspired by those ideas, and using state of the art technology, has utilized them by creating virtual environments, like a "reverse" platonic cave, to give to the visitor of "Hellenic Cosmos" a better understanding of the past.
