Sample Academic Research Paper
Your paper should include a title page and the bolded sections as shown and explained
below. (Note: No underscoring) This sample is based on instructions found in the
Brown book and at:

The teacher has added some sample text based on his research of the Eggertsen family.
Title page instructions
A- Upper right hand corner of the title page and every additional page of your paper: type the
“manuscript page header.” This consists of the first 2-3 words of your title, a space, and the page
number.
B- All of the other information on the page is centered.
Skip a line after each typed line.
About 1/3 of the way down the paper, type
1- Complete title (perhaps 2-3 lines long).
2- Your name, student number, and seat number.
3- Ocean University of China, Qingdao.
4- These words: In partial fulfillment of the requirements for EAW B9 (use YOUR class number).
5- Instructor: C. Paxman
6- June 2, 2011 (or, June 7, 2011).
Then skip 3-5 lines.
7- Next, in three successive lines, list your COLLEGE (not OUC, but Oceanography; Information
Science; Chemistry, etc.)
Then list your major.
