SECTION 08 63 00
METAL-FRAMED SKYLIGHTS
I. GENERAL
Work Included:
Factory fabricated aluminum clearspan pre-engineered skylight structure with framework, flashing, glass and
glazing.
Submittals:
1. Complete shop drawings.
2. Provide pairs of samples for initial color selection.
Design Loading requirements:
Roof and snow live loads per the applicable building code.
Warranty:
Provide written warranty stating that all work shall remain free of leaks, defective design, defective materials
and construction, glass seal failure for five (5) years after the date of acceptance.
II. PRODUCTS
Manufacturers:
The specifications are based on the skylight products of Wisconsin Solar Design, wisconsinsolardesign.com.
The following manufacturers will be accepted when complying with the specifications herein: Super Sky
Products, Inc., supersky.com, and Naturalite/EPI, vistawall.com.
Materials:
1. Extruded Aluminum Framing Members and Flashings
2. Closures and Flashings: .040 inch, finished to match framing members.
3. All aluminum to receive a painted Class I Architectural fluorocarbon painted finish or an Architectural Class
I color anodized finish) with a 0.7 mil thickness.
4. Glass--(Consult Skylight Manufacturer for glass recommendations).
5. Fasteners: stainless steel within skylight, cadmium plated steel for connections to supporting structure.
6. Sealant -- High performance silicone sealant applied in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.
III. EXECUTION
Installation:
1. Installation -- install skylight frame, glass and accessory items as needed in accordance with the
manufacturer’s printed instructions.
2. Erect system plumb and true and in proper alignment and relation to established lines and grades as shown
on the approved shop drawings.
3. Touch-up areas damaged during installation.
4. Clean: Remove debris created by the work. Leave aluminum and glass construction clean at completion of
the work of this section.
