Constitution
National Association,
Supervisors of Agricultural Education, Inc.
Article I - Name
The name of the association shall be National Association Supervisors of Agricultural
Education, Inc.
Article II - Purposes
The general purposes of the association are:
1. To provide for a better understanding of career and technical education in
agriculture.
2. To foster fellowship and understanding among members and to serve as a
medium of exchange of ideas, philosophy and professional materials.
3. To provide a medium for assisting in the determination of program direction,
needed research and encouragement of professional advancement of its
members.
4. To provide opportunity for discussing plans and policies of the U.S. Department
of Education.
5. To keep members informed as to trends, plans, and policies of the Association
for Career and Technical Education and their implications for the development of
career and technical education in agriculture.
6. To promote professional relationships with other agencies, associations, and
institutions concerned with agriculture and agricultural education.
7. To represent the profession of career and technical education in agriculture
whenever necessary or desirable.
Article III - Membership and Dues
Membership in this association shall be active, associate and honorary.
Active
Members of the Association for Career and Technical Education who are
professionally engaged in the administration and/or supervision of career
and technical education in agriculture on the district, area, state, or national
level.
Associate
Non members of the Association for Career and Technical Education who
are professionally engaged in the administration and/or supervision of
career and technical education in agriculture on the district, area, state, or
national level. Associate members will be allowed to vote on any business
matter but can not be elected to office or appointed to any board which
includes NASAE representation. Associate members may be appointed to
serve on NASAE committees.
Honorary
Honorary Membership in the National Association of Supervisors of
Agricultural Education (NASAE) is reserved for individuals whose support of,
and/or contributions to, the advancement of Agricultural Education are
deserving of special recognition. Honorary Membership in NASAE will be
granted to those individuals who have made significant contributions to the

advancement of Agricultural Education, but yet may or may not have had
the opportunity to participate as an active NASAE member. Nominations for
Honorary Membership must be submitted to the NASAE Executive
Committee for consideration. Individuals selected for Honorary Membership
are considered a lifelong member of NASAE, they are not required to pay
any dues, and cannot vote or hold office but receives all other benefits and
privileges of membership. Any member may nominate persons of distinction
who have made significant contributions to Agricultural Education.
Candidates for Honorary Membership cannot be currently eligible for active
membership.
Active and Associate types of members shall be based on payment of dues; the amount to be
decided by a majority vote of members present at the annual meeting held in conjunction with
the National FFA Convention. The membership year shall be from July 1 to June 30.
Article IV - Officers
The officers shall be a president, a president-elect, a secretary, an executive treasurer (The
executive treasurer shall be a nonvoting ex officio member), four vice presidents, and the
immediate past president. Each of the vice presidents will be selected from and represent one
of the four regions of the National FFA Organization identified in the National FFA By-Laws.
These nine officers shall comprise the executive committee of the association.
In the event of a vacancy in any office, of the Executive Committee shall fill the office by
appointment until the next annual meeting of the Association.
Article V - Duties of Officers
It shall be the duty of the president to preside at the business meetings of the association, to
preside at the meetings of the executive committee, to appoint committees and to take any
other action necessary to carry out the mandate of the membership. The president shall
become an ex-officio member of all committees.
It shall be the duty of the president-elect to assume the duties of the president in the absence of
the president and serve as chair of the program of activities committee.
It shall be the duty of the secretary to keep the minutes of all association meetings, (and) to
transmit such minutes to the membership. The secretary shall be responsible for association
correspondence and shall serve as secretary to the executive committee.
It shall be the duty of the executive treasurer to receive & collect membership dues, maintain
membership records, to receive & collect the annual conference registration, to receive and
disburse monies with the approval of the executive committee and to keep the financial records
of the association.
Each of the four vice presidents shall serve as presiding officer of any meeting of the
association called on a regional basis and shall transmit to the secretary a record of any action
or recommendations taken at such meetings.
Article VI - Committees

The president shall appoint the following standing committees and designate the chairs to serve

The president shall appoint, with the approval of the executive committee, such special
committees as are necessary to conduct the affairs of the association. The duties of all
committees shall be prescribed by the executive committee. Committees may incur expense to
the association only if given prior approval by the executive committee.
Article VII - Meetings
An annual meeting with a business session and program for professional improvement shall be
convened in conjunction with the National FFA Convention. A program for professional
improvement may be convened during the National Convention of the Association for Career
and Technical Education. The members present at an officially announced business meeting
shall constitute a quorum for the purposes of business transactions.
Article VIII - Amendments
The constitution may be amended by two thirds vote of the members present at any annual
meeting, provided that at least thirty (30) days written notice shall have been given to the
members concerning such proposed amendment. Amendments may be proposed by (1) the
executive committee, (2) any committee appointed for the purpose of proposing amendments;
or (3) by any group of five (5) or more current members.
It shall be the duty of the secretary to provide notice to the membership if the proposed
amendment meets any one of the three requirements listed above.
Article IX - Regions
The regions shall be the same as the four regions of the National FFA Organization identified in
the National FFA By-Laws.
