On April 1st a change to garbage collection in Reykjavík comes into effect which is that garbage containers must be picked up at no more than 15 meters from garbage collection vehicles.
The staff of the Garbage Collection Unit of the City of Reykjavík has measured the distance of your garbage containers from the garbagecollection vehicles during collection from the point at which the vehicle got closest to the containers. The distance is over 15 meters. You need to respond in one of the following ways:

Place the garbage containers closer to the street on collection day.
The collection days by street for garbage containers in Reykjavík can be viewed on the homepage of the City of Reykjavík www.reykjavik.is.

Permanently Move the garbage enclosure/storage area near the street. An example of ways to properly implement garbage enclosures can be found on the site www.reykjavik.is/sorphirda

Request additional garbage collection service with which the containers would be picked up farther than 15 meters from the garbage collection vehicle during collection.
