Star-studded salon staff meet celebs!
Staff at a Somercotes salon are keeping star-studded company with a host of
celebrities.
Hair stylists and beauty therapists from Hair & Beauty at Slimming World, based on
Clover Nook Road in Somercotes, have welcomed famous faces to the salon as well as
meeting them at exclusive events.
Salon manager Victoria Hallam and her team met former The Only Way is Essex star
Mark Wright when he hosted Slimming World’s annual Awards ceremony for its
most successful slimmers. The stylists travelled to Birmingham to give the ten
finalists in Slimming World’s Woman of the Year 2012 competition, who between
them lost more than 110st with the weight loss organisation, a glamorous makeover
ahead of the awards.
Victoria says the event was one of the most memorable in her career of nearly 15
years: “I’ve done a lot of exciting things in my time as a hair stylist, including
travelling nationally with the Schwarzkopf artistic team, but this really did top it all.
Every single one of the ladies we met was so inspirational and they’ve all achieved
such amazing weight losses so they definitely deserved a pampering. Everyone said
they felt really special – like celebrities for the day – which was exactly what we
wanted, and what we try to do for all of our clients. And I can’t lie, meeting Mark was
great too – the icing on the cake after a fantastic day.”
Meanwhile, beauty therapist Gemma Weston was delighted to welcome Emmerdale
actor Matthew Wolfenden when he made a special visit to the salon. Matthew, who
took the trophy in last year’s Dancing on Ice competition, was visiting Slimming
World’s head office to meet slimmers taking part in the Woman of the Year 2012
semi-finals and while there he visited the salon, which is based on site but open to the
public.
And given all their new famous friends, it’s fitting that hair stylists Verity Wright,
Becky Jones and Lynsey Mott joined Victoria to be treated to a masterclass with
celebrity stylist Andrew Barton. The team were whisked off to a Redken Education
Experience with Andrew in Manchester and they have now welcomed professional
hair brand Redken 5th Avenue NYC to Hair and Beauty at Slimming World.
Victoria says: “All of our clients are special to us and we love making them feel like
celebrities. I love seeing someone who’s walked into the salon feeling tired or fed-up
walking out looking and feeling fabulous. That’s why we choose the most luxurious
