The rear end of the head shall be supported by stationary post bearings and also by the head lifting cylinders, which enable adjustment of the debris skimming depth of the head. The collecting head side walls shall be made of formed 12 ga/2,6 mm steel sheets. The submerged portion of the side walls shall have openings covered with expanded sheet metal providing minimum restriction to the water flow during the skimming operation. The collecting head shall be capable of being raised above the barge deck level and of being lowered to a desirable skimming depth by hydraulically actuated lifting cylinders. The collecting head conveyor support structure shall be made of a combination of carbon steel fabricated profiles, HSS tubing and fabricated channels. The head conveyor drive shafts shall be driven by one or two hydraulic motors through a #40 chain coupling. The drive shaft shall be made of 3”/76.2 mm diameter x 3/16”/4.76 mm wall D.O.M. tubing supplied with weldable cast iron flanged sprockets to prevent damage to the shaft tubing, and with a 4”/101.6 mm pitch diameter. The conveyor idler shaft shall be made of the same material as the drive shaft and may be either smooth roller or supplied with sprockets. The conveyor shafts shall be supported by 4 bolt flange bearings bolted to take-up plates. The adjustable take-ups shall be supplied with 3/4”/19.05 mm diameter stainless steel threaded rods. The head conveyor shall be supplied with two widths of 24”/610 mm wide heavy duty belting (flat wire steel mesh). The conveyor belting top and return runners shall be supplied with 1.375” x .25”/35 mm x 6.35mm UHMW plastic strips. The collecting head operational dimensions shall be: - hydraulically adjustable collecting swath From fully closed to 10’-0”/3050 mm wide - skimming depth 18”/457 mm min. - conveyor width 4’-2”/1270 mm min. - conveyor belting Heavy duty stainless steel - head side conveyor/wings Hydraulically adjustable * Alternate belt material & attachment option shall be offered to suit particular needs.
